As you approach the hotel, you will notice the beautiful Jacaranda trees that surround the property. Some of these trees were planted during the Great Depression of the 1930s, adding a touch of history and charm to the hotel. If you visit in October, you will be treated to a breathtaking sight when the trees are in full bloom, coinciding with the annual Jacaranda Festival celebrated by the locals.

The heart and soul of the Royal Mail is the proprietor, Andrew Café, whose love for music resonates throughout the establishment. Not only has the hotel been recognized for its dedication to the blues genre, but it is also renowned as a must-visit destination for touring Blues n Roots musicians. Together with his loyal patrons and staff, Andrew has transformed the Royal Mail into one of the best live Blues n Roots venues in Australia.

The Royal Mail holds a special place in the hearts of many, as artists and organizations from all over the country rallied together to support its recovery from the devastating floods of 2011. The hotel even features on the cover of the album "Hard Rain," which includes original tracks donated by some of Australia's most beloved Blues artists.

The Royal Mail has a rich history, with its resilience evident in the face of natural disasters. During the flood of 1974, the water covered the beer garden and rose to the first floor, but the hotel continued trading on the top verandas, becoming a central meeting point for the local community. Today, you can relax in our historic beer garden and experience the same sense of community that has been cherished for decades.

The old timber walls of the pub hold not only history but also the echoes of music. For almost 35 years, live music has been a staple at the Royal Mail, with Andrew making it his mission to foster a strong local music scene and provide a welcoming venue for bands. The hotel proudly sponsors the Blues Association of South East Queensland, and many bands have had the honor of performing their first gig under its corrugated iron roof. When it comes to dining, our kitchen offers delicious meals and weekly specials from Wednesday to Saturday. You can choose to dine in and enjoy our cozy pub atmosphere or relax in our outdoor beer garden. Our passionate chef takes pride in serving a variety of meals that cater to the varying dietary requirements of our patrons.

We also invite you to join us for the BASEQ (Blues Association of South East QLD) jam, which takes place on the last Sunday of every month from 1 pm to 5 pm. All are welcome to come and enjoy the incredible talent showcased during these events.
