"Weekend Lunch time was quiet, 1 or 2 tables including us. Food was of authentic taste of Shanghai, the marinated crab was excellent."
"I have to say that the quality of the food is getting worse now. I went to this restaurant with my Shanghainese friend a year ago. At that time, I was surprised by the food. It was so tasty and authentic Shanghai food. However, this time, I am really disappointed by the food. braised pork belly - the sauce is not thickened enough and I can still taste the raw meat flavor. Tofu with crab meat - didn’t cook well, it has strong fishy smell. Other dishes are quite standard. Not sure if they changed chef. But I won’t go there again."
"Below average food for the price. The Sweet & sour pork ribs with plum sauce looked nothing near the photo on the menu, nor does it taste any way like Sweet & Sour, dry and tough, some pieces were hot and some were almost cold (it appears more like microwaved). Some of the Wuxi style braised Chinese pork ribs had so much fat on them. The service was pretty average, staff gathered around talking rather than observing customer's needs (there weren't many customer's around at that time). It's something basic to serve the main course after the entrées / starters, yet they don't seem to know. We observed some customers (seem to know the staff) were served tea straight after they sat down and the staff went through the menu with them, yet some customers waited for a long time just to get the staff's attention. Some of the prices on the menu were higher than what's on their website."
"Beautiful Shanghai local dishes, drive me reviewed past, gave my guests happiness."
"Excellent food at a very reasonable price. All the dishes were very tasty, with the green cauliflower, crystal trotter (lile terrine) and baby spinach with dried beancurd being the standouts. With some wine the final bill was $55/person, which is excellent for the quality and amount of food we had. The ambiance is not so great: formal white tablecoths and napkins, a brightly lit room, and the heating could not keep up with a very cold Melbourne winter evening. Service was fine though if you do like rice with your dinner, it’s a good idea to request it early and forcefully as it’s not typically served with Shanghai food. We really enjoyed our dinner and will be back."
