"Booked for one night, expressing the need to have a quiet room and requesting a feather filled pillow. Arrived on Sunday 26 February, room was on the fifth floor, 501. I found numerous stains in the carpet, telephone covered with dust, smell of drain coming from the bathroom, no fridge and most disappointingly no feather pillow. This following several reminder emails and a phone call the day before my arrival. I had expressly requested a feather filled pillow, as this is the only kind I can have. Unfortunately, I was not provided with the requested pillow which resulted in a very sleepless night, I was told they did not have any available the morning after, upon checking out. In such a case the staff member who called me, should have mentioned the lack of a pillow menu, I could have brought my own from home. Pleased to say the staff were pleasant and breakfast possibly the best point in this hotel. I would have given a one star, had it not been for the breakfast variety. I noticed the stairs up from the lower ground floor to the ground floor were also very dirty. I have used the Holiday Inn Hotels in many places within the UK as well as overseas in excess of 12 years, I must admit that this was the very worst one."
"Very accommodating hotel, friendly staff. Stayed there over the weekend and Mary was so helpful! She had a bright smile and very helping attitude, will definitely go back if Mary is still there to accommodate us and make us welcomed! Thank you Mary for making our weekend even more comfortable! The only bad thing is the rooms were very cold but we have been provided two extra duvets and staff was trying to help us make it warmer!"
"Excellent location to explore the city on foot. Chip shops, craft ales, tube and tram stations are minutes away, as are a few sweet parks. I'll take a moment to acknowledge Mr. Catalin, one of the staff members that made our stay so much better - helpful, swift and efficient, also providing advice on walking vs tube and nearby attractions. Great man. Breakfast is very basic, but could be made better by just one fresh vegetable option."
"The Holiday Inn Express is a hotel with an excellent location and a good price for a short stay. The room I stayed in was very small, it fit a double bed with about 30 cm on either side. The television was of adequate size and it had the normal amenities (towels, soap dispensers, hair drier, tea cups and kettle). The breakfast included was quite nice and served fro 7 AM to 10 AM on weekdays. It included some fruits, butter, and jam to go along with white/brown bread, tea cakes and croissants. They also offered hot food in the way of scrambled eggs, baked beans, Cumberland sausages, and bacon. There was a juice machine offering orange, apple, and water as well as s tea/coffee station. When I visited one of the heatwaves was impacting London weather. It was in excess of 30C and the only ventilation was a wall mounted fan and an open window. The fan did not produce much airflow regardless of the speed setting. However, the most frightening thing was that the window would not close all the way and lock. This left me feeling insecure that if I left the room someone could access my belongings while I was out and then later in the evening that again someone could make an unwanted entrance. I did tell the receptionist about the window who came to the room and found that it did not close and lock. They did reassure me that no could access the roof to gain entry into the room."
