Daiki Japanese Restaurant
● Open“Beautiful, homely dishes cooked with love. There are only three people it seemed that runs the whole place, but they did it so quickly, competently and with great customer service. The food is so delish - the sashimi are nice enough but what is amazing is the duck, the wagyu tataki (special), Japanese chicken curry and chicken kaarage. This place is so under the radar - but I will definitely revisit it next time!”

ICHI Japanese Restaurant
● Closed187 Hume Street, Toowoomba City QLD 4350, Australia“We visited ICHI quite some time ago and weren't overly impressed - but something has significantly changed for the better. The overwhelmingly positive influence was from the older lady staffing at front of house. From the moment of taking our phone booking, through the whole experience - she was faultless and just nonchalantly went about her work whilst interacting professionally with diners. This is a perfect example of why Australian businesses need to employ more older people - she's a true gift. My wife went to the extent of stating she reminded her of her grandmother - and that's extremely high praise. Outstanding service aside, let's get to the food (this is a restaurant, after all). Starters came out at breakneck speed. Don't order the Miso soup as a starter (one of my Japanese bellwether dishes) as it's served as a side with mains. I was gobsmacked to see hiramasa sashimi in Toowoomba - by far my favourite starter in any cuisine if I had a choice. The cut was slightly thicker than what I'd like but a beautifully curated presentation with a well balanced wasabi. My wife had the karaage. Mains - I almost died and went to heaven with the Unagi. Gorgeously brûléed and gelatinous - if you've ever described a dish as "melt in your mouth" then this just exceeded it. Rice was unfortunately comparatively average and this was somewhat disappointing accompanying such a stunning star protein. Not what you'd expect from the location but I'm absolutely going to dine here again. The service and food are just that great.”

One of the best Japanese Italian fusion restaurant in Gold Coast. Food: Spectacular. $70 for 4 course meal is definitely a go to (reminder to book). Ingredients are always fresh. Service : Great. They even take the effort to remember what I had (4 course meal) on my previous visit so that I have different dishes being serve each time I return. Pricing : Resonable. 4 course meal is definitely worth it. Overall : amazing couple, amazing chef with amazing food!!”

Sokuri Restaurant
● Closed“Bargain dinner and by far the best Asian on the sunshine coast. Two meals for about $30 is crazy. We had the beef bulgogi and Korean chicken rice bowls. So cheap and great quality food. We could barely even finish, the portions were the perfect size (for me, bit too big for my wife) I liked the beef bulgogi better but both were great.”

Anekawa Japanese Restaurant

We had a late reservation and my young daughter also couldn’t eat most of the dishes so my hubby took her out to get some food and when he came back it was past their closing time. The staff was immensely understanding and patient and even reheated his food for him! I would definitely be coming back soon and telling my friends about this gorgeous place.”

Paradise Point Japanese Cuisine
● Closed“This restaurant is serving real Japanese foods. Good quality sashimi(fish) and really enjoyable quality Japanese sake. Price is not too high but not too cheap. Similar price as hotel . I have some dislike foods in some dish and I asked if they can remove cream cheese from roll sushi. And they made it without cream cheese for me. I already recommended to my Japanese friends . Motto Motto Japanese Kitchen - Carindale
● Closed“Motto Motto is one of those places that makes you feel right at home with its hearty and savory Japanese cuisine. Two days ago, me and my partner indulged in their black ramen after a long day at work. Warm, soothing, and packed with umami goodness, it hit all the right notes. We were also enticed by the mala ramen, the novelty item on their menu. A word of warning: do not confuse this dish for the subtly nuanced mala flavor. It was a missile of sheer spice, bordering on culinary assault. My partner, brave soul, bore the brunt of this spicy onslaught. It might not have been an actual homicide, but it was a close call. While the mala ramen may have been a misstep, Motto Motto still stands as a reliable go-to for its other offerings. After all, what's life without a little spice? As it stands, Motto Motto continues to charm us with its overall delightful fare, even if they've added a bit too much fire to their interpretation of mala. So yes, we'll be back.”
