Via Retro cafe
“Loved this little set-up! Stumbled upon Via Retro when testing our new hiking boots at Mt Coot-tha. Ideally located away from the hustle and bustle with plenty of parking. The Apple Crumble slice was spot-on and this caters perfectly for those of us hiking in the afternoon when the other cafés are closed. Friendly staff and relaxed vibe.”
Arkie Cafe & Bar
“What can’t Arkie do? From Friday night cocktails with my boo to literally making me functional every morning with my first coffee (my colleagues thank you), they do the lot. The staff not only do the best coffee in town, they are all mega smart and lovely humans, keeping their cool even when the internet goes down across all of Brisbane. I only spend on average six minutes of my life each day at Arkie, but those minutes are always a highlight. Will be getting coffee tomorrow.”
Cat & Fiddle Deli Cafe
“such a great and cosy little cafe and deli. the staff here are very friendly and the coffee is good. they have a great range of bites like quiches, fritters, sandwiches and more.”
The Kingfisher Seafood Cafe
“This wasn't the first visit, and definitely won't be the last. We loved every bit of it. A great hidden little gem offering one of the nicest fish and chips in Brisbane. They have a great variety of seafood, burgers, drinks and coffee available. Take away as well as dine in options.”
Corner Store Cafe
“It’s not often I get flavour coming through from the bread in large cafe meals. But… the flavour in this huge singular slice was certainly appreciable. If you have a big enough plate I reckon one solid slice works really well for a knife and fork breakfast. The remarkable flavour on the first bite of this meal also extended fresh saucy herbs and the eggs. They were cheesy, but not to the point where they felt heavy. The coffee - on this occasion iced - was also very good. On the pricer end for the food, but it can also be justified by the wonderful space. Huge variety, I’d say even with the seasons, personality, plenty of natural light and good airflow. Perhaps not super cosy but there is a luscious green outlook over a huge veggie garden. Service was quick and accommodating. Would return.”
Forages Deli Cafe
“Came here for breakfast and for lunch and both were just perfect. It’s a simple place; but the food is really a step above you rest. Perfect breakfast of avocado smash with feta cheese on sourdough bread. Wonderful scrambled eggs. After 2 PM the kitchen is closed but we managed fine with some fabulous quiche. Reasonable prices. Friendly service. You just can’t go wrong. Seems like it is mostly regulars here. Clearly everyone is welcome. EAT HERE OFTEN”
Grill'd Toowong
“Grill'd Toowong. What to say? The atmosphere was so inviting, so tender, yet so professional that I became lethargic and almost forgot to pay for my burgers. However, food is top quality and staff were very helpful (he told me that I had to pay for my food). Thank you to 'Kate' for her excellent service in assisting me to both order and consume my meal . Highly recommend this restaurant.”
Merlo Coffee Cafe | Toowong
“I would just like to thank manager Josh for his excellent customer service skills when dealing with an unpleasant altercation between myself and another patron yesterday. Josh Thankyou for going above and beyond to find my friend and I and apologise on this person’s behalf (although not your fault at all for his behaviour). I have been loyal customer of Toowong Village Merlo for a few years now and will certainly remain so while i’m in the area with this outstanding service. You handled it like a boss :)”
Chatterbox Cafe
“I recently had the pleasure of indulging in a delectable breakfast at this establishment for the first time. Opting for the classic choice of eggs benedict, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional quality and taste. Furthermore, the accompanying coffee surpassed my expectations, boasting a highly commendable flavor profile.”
Josie North
“This is hands down my favourite café in the world so I’m going to be a bit biased here. I’ve tasted coffee from hundreds of different places, and Josie North is the best of all of them, for both taste and smoothness. The atmosphere is also unbeatable - the place is small but has a lovely neighbourhood feel, friendly staff, and a great selection of brunch options. I don’t live nearby, and I actively go out of my way to visit when I can. I would give 6/5 stars if I could ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
La Grava
“This cafe serves Campos coffee. It offers more consistent taste than many smaller niche coffee beans. Their Turkish bread sandwiches are simply the best. Brunches taste great, are of good portion size, reasonably priced. Hollandaise sauce? To die for. Staff were all friendly and service was fast. It was so good I went there three days in a row this time visiting Brisbane. During peak hour they were very busy but none of my dishes or coffee were delayed. Can’t recommend highly enough.”
The Walrus Club
“Amazing cocktails and the bartender really knows his stuff. Expensive, (around 15 to 20 for a cocktail) but worth the price. Live music was excellent and the feel of the bar with the stone brick around you just added to the experience.”
Bean on Dean
“An awesome coffee shop in Dean Street in Toowong. Often stop for a coffee when waiting for my family getting their haircut next door. Great coffee, delicious food, friendly and efficient service and a great range of seating to choose from indoors or out.”
Jubilee Park
“A very nice well-maintained park with a play area and a mixture of shaded and open areas. A good place to take young children. There is more park along the creek on the other side of Fletcher Parade, probably more suitable for adults and older children.”
Two Small Rooms Restaurant
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Two Small Rooms Restaurant in Brisbane, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is located in a charming building in the heart of the city, with a cozy and intimate atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a special occasion. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance. The decor is elegant yet understated, with muted tones and tasteful artwork adorning the walls. The seating is comfortable and the lighting is just right, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. The menu at Two Small Rooms Restaurant is truly outstanding. The dishes are expertly prepared using the freshest local ingredients, and the presentation is nothing short of exquisite. I ordered the duck confit for my main course, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The duck was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and the accompanying sides were all delicious and complemented the dish perfectly. The service at Two Small Rooms Restaurant is exceptional. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive, making sure that all of our needs were met throughout the meal. The wine list is also impressive, with a great selection of local and international wines to choose from. Overall, I highly recommend Two Small Rooms Restaurant to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience in Brisbane. The combination of delicious food, outstanding service, and cozy atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.”
Regatta Hotel
“Great steak, great service. We both had the dry aged porterhouse and it was perfect. It was my husbands birthday and they got him a card and complimentary dessert! So nice. Thanks Hamish for the 5 star service.”
Pitch and Fork
“Jin and the staff at Pitch and Fork were amazing! We had a group of 15 people and 2 babies for brunch to celebrate a birthday and the whole morning was absolutely seamless! We did a food/drink preorder which was a super easy process with frequent communication between myself and Jin. Jin was super helpful sending through a template for us to fill out and answered text messages very quickly. All of the coffees came out 10mins after we arrived and all the food came out all at one 10mins after that, which was no easy feat! Jin also checked what time we wanted the food to arrive on the table via a message the day before which was super helpful as well. Food was great as always and the staff were super helpful throughout and splitting the bill was super easy. Can’t thank Jin and the team and recommend them enough! Such a great spot as well for a big group as the space is nice and open.”
Royal Exchange Hotel
“Our first visit to the Royal on a quiet Sunday night in April, was for drinks and a meal, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. It was good to see that these guys take their Covid-19 safety responsibilities seriously, with sign-in required and masks “de rigueur” at all times while moving around in the pub. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, and everything ran smoothly for us from beginning to end. After drinks, we went back to the bar counter, where Chloe took our order of beer battered fish and chips, a rump steak with chips and vegetables and a serving of garlic bread for an entree. It took only a few minutes from time of ordering, until the meals were delivered to our table, in the correct order, and nicely presented on stylish, modern crockery. First came the garlic bread, followed by the two main meals. The garlic bread was a generous serve, with four chunky pieces of light and fluffy bread, smothered in creamy, moist garlic butter. The perfect way to start a meal. My fish was succulent and tender, and served with a nice selection of colourful vegetables and crispy chips. My wife’s rump was tasty and well cooked, just the way she likes it, and accompanied with a tangy mushroom sauce to spice it up, plus chips, and a serving of fresh, wholesome salad. We both enjoyed our meals, and at $53 for the lot, excellent value for money. The Royal is a spacious and airy venue, with lots of room to spread out and large comfy tables with high bar-stool style seating. There are plenty of TVs around the place for those who like their sport, but overall, although not sports-lovers, we still found the ambience to be perfect for us: casual, laid back and relaxed. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves in this pleasant, homely and safe atmosphere. There are two lots of toilets, both clearly signposted and easy to find. Like the rest of the place, they’re clean and well provisioned. Having just recently moved to this area, I’m pleased that we’ve discovered the Royal, which will be our local pub from now on! And it’s a breeze to get to by public transport or car, being conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the popular Toowong Shopping Village, where you can enjoy two hours free parking any week day, or unlimited free weekend parking after 6.00pm.”

“To indicate the 5 star for the 9/10 rating since perfection doesn't exist, we're not great, and there's always room for improvement on marvellous.”
