“Good friendly staff, good choice of beer and live bands. There to see the legendary UK Subs who were dpot on but also the very good The Mistakes. Added bonus. Will be back.”
The Lewes Arms
“Such a lovely pub. The very definition of a cosy British pub. The food we had was excellent. They had plenty of vegan options. The portion sizes were some generous too! The staff were super helpful, even calling on the day of our reservation to say they were running low on certain dishes and giving us the option to reserve some. A must visit.”
The Lewes Road Inn
“Second time having a Sunday roast there. Duck leg was delicious. Potatoes could of been done a little longer as a couple were a little hard in the middle. Cheesy leeks were perfect. Portions massive.”
Côte Lewes
“After a near 2hr wait at a nearby pub which never brought us any food, we booked this venue for Sunday lunch, with 5mins notice and on arrival immediately loved the vibe here, we’re treated superbly, super relaxed and extremely well run. The food was delicious and we will totally be back whenever in Lewes… thank you so much for rescuing our Sunday lunch Cote Brasserie”
The Snowdrop Inn, Lewes
“Delicious food and a nice vibe. Just a short stroll down from the main street and well worth it! Chat beer with the Manager, try the Reishi (mushroom brewed) non-alcoholoc beer, the rothaus non-alcoholic beer. And definitely the cod and leek pie. Wow. Absolutely delicious. And the BBQ pork ribs, perhaps not at the same time as they are generous servings. And the fries.. excellent stuff.”
The Rainbow Pub & Carvery
“Tasty food, very kind stuff and good atmosphere. Highly recommended! :)”

“We were sent here from their sister branch The Black Horse (which was fully booked for Sunday lunch). Being their first Sunday since re-opening it was packed, but worth the wait for the delicious Sunday roast - great veggie option, amazing gravy and friendly staff.”

“Amazing night with beautiful music and brilliant staff! The beer is 100% worth the journey! Different food to try every Friday and Saturday night too ! I will be back ..”
Blue Door Barns Boutique B&B
“Perfect place to stop off during a long distance walk of the South Downs. Our rooms were clean and tidy, the setting was very chilled and tranquil. Bryony was a delight to deal with and she couldn’t have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend. Thank you”
The patch
“I had a lovely lunch here with my son. It is a breakfast & lunch place that also does great beer. Will definitely come back.”
Blacksmiths Arms
“I had wanted to try Caribbean food for some time and so was eager to do so having been given the opportunity. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My starter of chicken wings ticked all the boxes - the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and has a delicious sweet and spicy combination. The goat curry was also very tasty, though not as hot as I had anticipated. One of the two ales on offer (I can't recall the name) went very well indeed with the food. Highly recommended.”
ABYSS Brewery + Tap
“Really good beer (Pale Deluxe & Dank Marvin were favs) & nice vibe to the place. Visited during the day but have been told the evenings/nights are more impressive (lights & atmosphere). Fire pit & outside heating + food truck are very welcome.”
Clayton Wickham Farmhouse
“Along with two friends we have just enjoyed a wonderful afternoon cream tea! Lovely mixed tray of sandwiches, scones with fresh jam and cream, a mixed fruit dish followed by an eton mess pud - wonderful. . Beautiful gardens with views over Sussex countryside. Highly recommend.”
The Pelham Arms
“Best veggie wellington Sunday lunch! Nice old pub in Lewes, small beer garden, easy parking opposite, friendly team, amazing chef.”
The Swan Inn
“Popular pub on the outskirts of Lewes. Mostly tables all fully booked throughout the day showing how popular it really is, so be warned, don't expect to find a place to sit if you didn't book, especially as food serving times. I was in a group of six and we had a table from 1.30pm til 4.30pm, plenty of time to eat two courses and chat. It's a great pub which has a turntable on the bar and they only play music out via vinyl. Fantastic eclectic mix too. A great little enclosed garden out back, fab in the summer, but still had the smokers out there yesterday (Dec 30th). Good choice of food with something for everyone, veggies and vegans too.”
The Green Man
“Friendly staff, spotlessly clean pub with epic Xmas decorations! Food awesome, had steak, e Iain & mushroom pie, mash, veg, a huge plate of onion rings & 2 pints of real ale for £25, very good value.”
The Cock Inn
“We found this restaurant from a Google search. An excellent choice! We both had pork medallions with roasted new potatoes and vegetables. The pork was really tender and vegetables perfectly cooked. The staff were really attentive and friendly with great attention to detail and cleanliness. We will be back!”
The Abergavenny Arms
“Went here today after many years. Food was excellent and delicious, price was good for the quality and quantity of food, although would have paid more. Staff were friendly, young, welcoming and on the ball, thank you. Fire lit, a cosy, comfortable place, great ambience. Seated in a beautiful booth overlooking the garden. Took a friend, both of us needed something special and we got it here. Thank you all.”
John Harvey Tavern
“Excellent tap room, great staff, quality beers brewed in the town, well worth a visit if down this way.”
The Brewers Arms
“Met two friends for drinks, lunch and a long-awaited catch up. It was quite busy but we had a table booked. Great, friendly service. An extensive menu with loads of choices. My friends had scampi & chips and the chips were delicious!! I could have made a better choice this time. I had the satay chicken & rice with prawn crackers which was very tasty with loads of chicken. However, I had thought it would have a satay sauce so was rather dry for my liking. My fault for not checking beforehand. I would definitely go again and just have something different. The burgers looked really good.”
The Gardener's Arms
“Perfect, friendly local pub, well kept beers and ciders, good selection of wine, great prices love it”
Anchor Inn
“Ate here on Monday, lovely food and safely gluten free for the Coeliac in our group. Staff very knowledgeable about allergens and cooking procedures. Service on the slow side but it was busy and a bank holiday Monday. Will visit again.”
St Marys Supporters Club
“Been here a few times now as they host our camera club meetings, always friendly and love the long bar..”
Blackboys Inn
“We enjoyed lunch at the pub and both had burgers. Mine was the fried cheese with a burger patty and my wife’s was the cheeseburger. Both were very good. The fries were fresh and crispy and the waitresses were very attentive. Overall very satisfied.”
Fuego Lounge
“Excellent place for Brunch/lunch. Busy but nice atmosphere. Lots of veggie/vegan options. Great food. You pay via app or at the bar but that's fine.”
Rights of Man
“One of the most joyful plates of food I've had in such a long time. Not pretentious, just excellent cooking and as a seasoned Michelin dîner I can honestly say it was up there with some of my most memorable meals. Thank you so so much”
The Juggs
“Recommended. Saw this pub while passing through Monday 1pm-ish and dropped in for lunch. Has a car park which was full. Spaces in the street as well so parked there instead. It was busy but plenty of tables; there are four separate outdoor dining areas, most of which are shaded by trees, umbrellas, or a canopy. Waitress service or at the bar. Very old pub with very low ceilings and doorways. I'm 6'6"and was bent double inside - when I wasn't banging my head! Decent selection of beer, including real ales. We had pink gin and tonic, served with strawberries, plus pint ale shandy both of which were nice. Ate mackerel fillet which comprised four perfectly cooked small fillets, bit of salad and freshly made new potato salad underneath, delicious. Also had large cod and chips, fish was decent but peas bit shriveled from over boiling and chips, meh. Afterwards had cheesecake with apricot compost afterwards and black coffee, again lovely. Staff attentive and helpful. Pewter tankard at bar for tips so made use of that. £49.50 including £3 tip (all the change I had, sorry!). Great experience, thank you”
The Black Horse Inn
“Lively and cosy atmosphere of traditional pub. Great ale and plenty of viewing points for sports.”
