Discover Wasson Way: Cincinnati's Vibrant Urban Trail

Welcome to Wasson Way, a thriving urban park and trail network located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Stretching for 3.5 miles from Old Red Bank Road at the edge of Ault Park to Montgomery Road near Xavier University, Wasson Way is a scenic corridor designed for both cyclists and pedestrians. An additional 0.8-mile segment is already open from Woodburn Avenue to Blair Court, enhancing connectivity across the city.

Wasson Way is more than just a trail; it is a transformative project that connects eight Cincinnati neighborhoods and three municipalities, serving approximately 83,000 residents. Once completed, this trail will link Uptown and Fairfax with a network of bicycle routes and pedestrian paths, utilizing an unused railroad corridor and existing city right-of-way. It will provide seamless access to key destinations, including the University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Withrow and Walnut Hills High Schools, and the bustling Rookwood Commons shopping area.

The trail network is set to revolutionize regional mobility by reducing vehicle miles traveled, lowering CO2 emissions, and decreasing rush-hour traffic congestion. It promises to enhance safety, cut household transportation costs, and promote health and wellness for residents and visitors alike.

Wasson Way's development has been a collaborative effort, with significant funding from federal and state sources, including the Clean Ohio Trails Fund and the Surface Transportation Program. Each phase of construction, from Phase 1 in 2018 to the ongoing Phase 6A, reflects a commitment to sustainable growth and community connectivity.

Join us as we continue to expand this vital urban trail, working with the City of Cincinnati, Great Parks of Hamilton County, and the Ohio Department of Transportation to integrate Wasson Way into the broader CROWN network. Future plans include connecting to the Little Miami Trail and exploring links to Armleder Park, ultimately creating a cohesive trail system extending from Cincinnati to Cleveland.

Experience the beauty and community spirit of Wasson Way—where nature meets urban life. Enjoy protected access for walking, running, and cycling, and explore the many neighborhoods and attractions Cincinnati has to offer. "A long walk to nowhere. I took my seven year old golden retriever for a walk and it was kind of boring. The scenery isn’t that great, but the quality of the asphalt is very good …. If you are into that type of thing. I saw one of my neighbors who was about as enthralled as I was. Anyway, it was better than what we had before and there were a lot of people walking."

"Very safe and useful for cycling errands, however it's pitch black in the wooded parts at night. Some small garden lights on the sides would be nice"

"A fantastic sub-urban level trail from Xavier University to Hyde Park for walkers, runners, bikers, and rollerbladers of all ages. Some interesting things to see on the trail. You will likely be tempted to make a stop at Busken's Bakery along the way but stay strong on your fitness journey."
