In an effort to enhance convenience, KAT is transitioning to a cashless ticket payment system onboard, featuring the innovative katpay account-based ticketing. With katpay, passengers can enjoy a "pay as you go" experience using a reloadable fare card or by adding value to their katpay account through the Transit app. Reload options include cash or card, accessible via the app, an online portal, the KAT Customer Service counter, or various retail locations around Knoxville.
Join us for two public meetings to delve deeper into these plans and address any questions you may have. These meetings will be held in the Community Room of Knoxville Station (1st floor) on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 5 pm to 6 pm. Arrive by 5 pm to view the presentation.
Mark your calendars for the launch of katpay on October 23, 2024, with the proposed cashless transition beginning December 2, 2024. The KTA Board will hold a public hearing regarding this transition on September 26, 2024. We invite you to participate in our anonymous survey to help improve our services.
Attention football fans! The Football Shuttle route services have been updated for the 2024 season. Shuttle service is now exclusively available from the Civic Coliseum and Market Square, with unchanged pick-up and drop-off locations. Football shuttle tickets are priced at $10 roundtrip per person and can only be purchased through our official Transit app. Download it FREE from your app store today! "this use to be a great way to get around knoxville easy. however, their time system is horrid now. was trying to catch my bus at the station was less than 15 feet from bus and it pulled in, then pulled out. spoke with a supervisor "david" who was very rude. told me i could wait another 30 minutes to catch the next one. since when did the bus system start working on a 5 second terminal stop. wasn't even running late. contacting BBB."
"Wish I could give it no stars. Absolutely awful experience. The first part of the drive was totally fine, besides when I first got on the bus and stepped in vomit. Half way to our destination (Washington D.C.), the bus broke down and we were stuck for 3-4 hours, waiting for a mechanic that never came. Instead, we all were transferred to a different bus. By the time we arrived at D.C., I'd missed the next bus I was supposed to take to get to PA. They told me I had to wait two hours for the next bus. Seriously? I had a flight to catch! I ended up having to buy a train ticket to make it the rest of the way there on time. They wouldn't even consider giving everyone their money back for the bus ticket that we never got to use! My first and most definitely last bus ride ever. Seriously, never use Megabus. It's a gamble."
"In Knoxville we had to leave passengers behind because the bus was overbooked, these people all had a paid ticket, yet were left behind. The driver took her sweet time making unnecessary stops, with added traffic I missed my connection bus in DC for which I had 3h layover in the original plan. But we arrived over 4h later in DC, by then customer service was closed and all passengers with connections had to spend the night at Union Station in DC because Megabus wasn't willing to accommodate us in other buses but instead made us wait until the next morning 7am to continue this ridiculous trip. Also when we called customer service from the bus they weren't willing to cooperate and take our delay into consideration, instead we were told we had to miss the bus first before they would take us into consideration. Not enough, the next morning I walked up to my connection bus and I was told the ticket wasn't valid anymore and I had to purchase a new one or choose a different way of transportation. Overall the worst travel I experienced and I travel a lot, but this was an absolute disaster. Overall it would have taken me 8-9 hours to drive to Philadelphia while Megabus managed to make this a 28h travel from door to door."
