"Listen to your body!! If the doctor tells you nothing is wrong and recommends therapy, but you’re in pain, go get second opinion. I went to another doctor and it was discovered that I had a torn labrum. It was so severe that the inflamed bursae sac looked like a torn tendon in the MRI. The physical therapy actually made the injury worse."

"Dr. Kerns told me upfront everything that I needed to know about my surgery and what to expect afterwards. He definitely doesn't rush through your appointments. He takes the time to explain everything. I would recommend him to anyone that is needing orthopedic surgery."

"Dr. Kern changed my life, and that is no exaggeration. I went from a college athlete, weight training mother, to being in so much pain that I hardly walked more than 1,000 steps a day - ultimately putting on 50 extra pounds. My hip pain was so intense, I was medicating to sleep. Prior to Kern, I had experienced such embarrassment by a doctor that told me I was too young for any of that kind of pain, and brushed me off - so I just lived with it. I couldn't take it anymore and my doctor referred me to Kern. I am so thankful he did. He listened, found the issue, and repaired it. I am 4 weeks post-op and I cannot tell you how much daily pain I was in that is now gone. Completely! I feel like I owe Kern more than just a thank you. He has given me a hope to wake up tomorrow."

"I usually don't give anyone a five star. But I will for Dr Kern. On July 19. He did a reverse shoulder surgery, fixed a completely torn rotor cup and fixed a torn tendon in my right shoulder. The nerve block wore off Tuesday evening and I have had no pain in that shoulder since. I messed it up in Sept 2018 and just had been dealing with it. The staff at the office and hospital staff at UT was awesome. I want to thank you for taking care of me and fixing my shoulder. Before the surgery I ask God to be with you and help you. Well I have to say Thank You to both."

"From the initial greeting all the way through to scheduling my surgery, the experience was wonderful. I greatly appreciate how Dr. Kern listens to my goals and explains the path forward in a way that I can understand. It truly feels like we are working as a team to correct my issue."
