"In March of 2018, I embarked on a motorcycle trip, tracing the Trail of Tears from Cherokee NC to Talequah OK, stopping at poignant locations to pay respect along the way. This was one of my many stops. I read up ahead of time about the story of this place and the university study that attempted to locate unmarked graves. I was able to see those locations when I visited, thanks to the descriptions from the study. This was one of the few stops that included gravesites, and of course drives home the sadness of the story in a way everyone can understand. Unrelated, I was having an issue with my headlight fasteners, I picked up a piece of twig from this location and shoved it in to hold my headlight steady and it stayed there all the way to Talequah and back home to Florida. I keep that little twig from Camground Cemetery in my toolbox as a memento from my journey."

"Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Is a beautiful 150 year old country church with a quaint sanctuary and very nice fellowship hall. We have a beautiful play ground and a National Trail of Tears monument."
