"A nice older campground ran by the Army Corp of Engineers. The area is open from mid March till the first week of September. A RV site with electricity and water is $30 per night. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are tent sites available for $20 and up depending on the need for electricity. I saw first hand there are very nice tent sites! For the RV sites, there are not sewer connections, not an problem as there is a RV dump station near the park's enterance. Do bring everything you require and need. There are no supply stores on the park, so plan ahead. The early mornings and evenings is very beautiful and peaceful. During the day on weekends, the lake sounds like being near an busy interstate highwasy with all the boat traffic. A popular lake for those who like to fish. I did see Bass and other fish feeding in the early evenings. The water is appears clean and clear for the terrain it is located in. There are areas of the shore line areas that are free of garbage. Then there are areas cluttered with trash, debri, old fishing line, containers and a lot of plastic stuff that belongs in the trash can and not the lake. Appears to be a lot of garbage traveling down the Chattahoochee from Atlanta and other communities along the river. Can't help but wonder about the effect on wildlife and water quality. The camp sites have a good amount of spacing between them. The sites are in wooded areas, but no problems with low handing tree limbs when manuvering the RV in the area. Understand some sites are not always level, so something to be prepared for in advance. The bath houses are well maintained. Do have bug spray for your clothing if hiking. There were a lot ticks and chiggers this last trip. This is common and normal in areas where the deer and wildlife bed down. There are a falcons in the area. It's interesting watching them dive down to attempt and with success, snatch up a fish for their young. Overall it is a very nice area, relaxing and worth while making a trip to. Please leave nothing behind and put trash in the dumpster as it is the right thing to do."
