Holiday Inn Express Oneonta, an IHG Hotel

"Place is reasonable but very bad customer service. I’m a diamond elite member with holiday inn and have stayed at various locations across the country. I have never come across such a bad customer service before. Nobody cares about loyalty members at this location even for simple requests. I’ll most likely stay with Marriott next door which has way better customer service."

"Overall, this is a fine hotel. The one issue I ran into is that they no longer offer bar soap. This means that all that is available is liquid body wash. For most people, this shouldn’t be an issue, however, because it’s Dove brand, its leaves a slimy residue (it’s probably just the moisturizer in the soap). I personally don’t like this and prefer just a small bar. Unfortunately, when I went down to ask, I was told that soap is no longer available. I realize that it is becoming standard practice to cut down or eliminate single-use products. I might just be unreasonable in expecting a small bar of soap upon asking, however, it seems that other hotels still offer bar soap if you ask. I understand that this probably sounds petty, but I will probably just opt to stay at the Marriott branded hotel next door in the future. Other than that, the hotel was nice as expected. Free coffee in the morning and pleasant staff. Rooms were clean and they offer daily housekeeping."

"Would give zero stars if possible. Staff was rude, building was dirty. Woke up to the sound of children slamming into the ceiling above me like Kane and the Undertaker were choke slamming them into their graves. If you are going to gouge customers and charge $300+ per night the customer better be able to sleep in a quiet room. Unbelievable amount of noise for the amount paid. Asked the cleaning staff for extra towels on the 2nd day and was given 1 extra towel with somewhere between 5-6 small hand towels. Confusing. There was a continental breakfast but the food was really not good at all. Pool water was unbelievably chlorine heavy potentially to dangerous levels. Area out behind the building was nice."

"Was very impressed with our experience here. staff was courteous and helpful. Room was clean and quiet comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Pool was clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend."

"This hotel is dishonest and only focused on making a profit even if that means siezing money from underage guests. I made a booking through a third-party that neglected to mention the age-policy and since my party was under 21 we were no permitted to stay. I completely understood even though I was frustrated and the front-hall staff assured me the booking could be refunded if I initiated with the third-party. I did exactly that only to be met with a refusal from Holiday inn Express Oneonta under the basis that I had deceived them into thinking I would use the room and that resources were wasted. I couldn't have been more appalled at this clearly unprofessional behavior. In fact, the attendant in the hotel was reluctant even to allow my party to stay in the lobby as we waited for a cab to leave even though if was less than 20 degrees. The lack of care for customers was staggering especially since I was charged more than $300 for that horrendous treatment. Even when I brought this complaint to their international customer service, I waited more than two weeks and had to call in myself just to hear the conclusion of the refund request which was of course denied. The customer service agents were relatively unwilling to do their jobs and asserted I as the customer should have done better. The hotel will likely respond to this post as they do most one-star reviews affirming that my reports are simply baseless. This behavior is fully in line with the dishonestly that made them feel comfortable profiting off of the underage in the first place."
