"We stayed In the Garden room full of Birdhouse decor and they had claw foot tub with shower in it. I just wish the had handles to hang on to climb in and out. And Quiche and fruit in the morning was very good. We were there by ourselves we didnt even see the owner ever. The only flaw was climbing like 20 stairs to get to rooms and with luggage not fun. Once I climbed up I didnt even want to go eat that evening. Didnt go back down until I left next morning."

"My stay at the Shady Lady was delightful. I grew up in Gainesville and having a bird’s eye view of local landmarks such as Kress’s, the Cooke County Courthouse and courthouse square while enjoying coffee in the common area was a unique experience. The check in process was a breeze and the breakfast was delicious. I will definitely stay at the Shady Lady again!"

"This was such a cute, wonderful place to stay! Although it is a B&B, the rooms, atmosphere and overall stay felt more like a boutique hotel. The restaurant downstairs is amazing, and it was a great place to getaway from DFW for a weekend and go drink some wine. Also, the bed was very cozy. I’ll be staying here again."

"This is not a regular bed and breakfast. The rooms are great and the restaurant downstairs is great. There is no place to check in and the proprietor is not on property to cook breakfast for you and there is no kitchen. There is a coffee pot and coffee and tea with sugar and creamer and choclates in each room when you arrive along with a welcome note and the code for the entrance. There are plenty of nice towels with soap, shampoo and lotion available in the bathroom. I checked in with the wait staff in the restaurant and that was fine. Breakfast is delivered each day and is ready in the sitting room fridge when you are along with orange juice and bottled waters. The breakfasts I got on the days I stayed was a delicious beef kolache with mixed fruit and a danish, the next day was a stuffed biscuit of some kind, like a german bierox with mixed fruit and a danish. I enjoyed the books available in the hallway. Ms. Hertel, the owner, did call to say hello and apologize for not being there when we checked in and also asked if we needed anything. One thing nobody ever mentions is the train that is just 4 blocks away. If you are a light sleeper like me, bring earplugs."
