"Stephen M. Volin under the company name, Emergency Medical & Surgical Specialists of Colorado took complete advantage of the COVID situation. He set up a drive up "covid testing" center in Southglenn that accepted insurance. During Nov of 2021 I visited the site several times along with my spouse to test for COVID. Please keep in mind that the website where you schedule your appointment takes all your information which included insurance. The first odd bill that I received was back in 2022 when Stephen tried to bill my insurance for over $600 for a pelvic exam. That claim thankfully did not go through. His second attempt was deemed fraudulent by my insurance company, and I was told to discard the bills. Since then, Stephen was able to successfully bill my insurance company, $3,333.00 for 5 COVID tests! My responsibility for these 5 COVID tests is $696.31! The bills only provide a PO Box and the number provided is answered by a recording. When you call Stephen’s practice, they will not let you speak with him and provide you with a number that is also only answered by a recording. The BBB has numerous complaints filed regarding the COVID testing bills that Emergency Medical & Surgical Specialists of Colorado has claimed however, this doesn’t seem to be helping the public. I hope this post can help someone else and ultimately help stop Stephen from doing this in the future."
