"In the past there were squirrels living in the attic above my apartment. Last year a raccoon had 6 babies above my apartment. At dusk you can watch the raccoons climb down from the building's roof via rain gutter downspouts. I am not sure how many raccoons currently reside in the attic above my apartment but after dusk and at around 2 am when the raccoons return to their home in the attic it sounds as if they are going to break through the ceiling drywall. I can only imagine the damage the raccoons have caused to the hvac system and the insulation. The current owners seem more concerned with remodeling the rental office than actually maintaining the parking lot and buildings"
"Recently moved here. Great management, well kept property and units. Maintenance is fantastic and actively engaged in property. It’s winter so can’t comment on landscaping but they’ve done a pretty good job at keeping sidewalks cleared of snow/ice and maintenance request have been prompt and well handled."
"Very “Ok” living space. No one required to clean up after their pets. When it snows you might get the sidewalk shoveled. The property seems more interested in remodeling their offices and landscaping than the pot holes in the parking lot or the individual units"
"Did great job cleaning out leaves in front of my door. Looks great. Just wish could do something about trash blowing in but that's nature. If you could check the area occasionally and take care of it I would be very happy. Thanks for good job"
"I lived at Cherrywood Village for two years. In general, I was disappointed with the changes that occurred when the property management moved from Cushman and Wakefield to Highmark. The shortcomings of Highmark are what led me to my review. The buildings have extremely thin walls and ceilings. You will hear nearly every step of your upper neighbor, and most sounds in the hallways, even conversations. The building was loud because of street noise. Aside from neighbor noise, random car alarms would go off for minutes on end in the middle of the day and dogs would bark alongside them. The gym is not particularly large and has only one set of dumbbells. They added a barbell which was nice. The gym needs a facelift – the walls are falling apart, things are dented, and spiders love it there. Some of the equipment is taped together and cables are fraying. Maintenance was quick and good overall. They don’t tend to pick up after themselves and will leave a bit of a mess. I’ve had to sweep, vacuum, and clean walls after maintenance visits nearly every time. One time I got an outlet changed and there was dried blood, or some other fluid, on the wall next to it. If you’re sensitive to smoke, this complex allows smoking. They have signs telling Amazon drivers to drop packages off at doors, but the drivers often can’t do that due to regulations by their DSP. The mailroom is easily accessible through the front door during the day and seemingly not monitored by cameras. I’m not sure that there are any cameras in the complex for safety. There certainly aren’t at the mailboxes which I noticed were tampered with and broken into. One of my neighbors got their catalytic converter stolen within a few days of moving in, evidence that safety and surveillance are poor in this complex. Cleanliness is low in the leasing office. The bathrooms were graffitied. The sidewalks in the winter are extremely icy. I fell one morning, so I’d hate to think what could have happened if I was any older. There’s a school zone at the main entrance of the complex. This means traffic can get congested at school hours. Tenants seem to let their loose trash free in the halls. The lawns have become notably worse since the change in management to Highmark. Lawns that were once green are now dying and yellow. They very recently got new landscaping near the leasing office and pool (which stays full all year). One time management wasn’t aware of their own parking lot maintenance. This nearly got my car stuck on a critical travel day. The front office had to go ask the workers what time they were going to be done. The cost you see on your lease is not the amount you’ll pay each month. Gas and electricity are not included in rent. In addition to paying those, you will be paying ~$150 to the complex for things like common area utilities, water, and trash. Lastly, I had a scenario in November 2022 where my water heater died. I noted it had been acting weird since at least March 2022 (I have emails to prove this) and it got disregarded by maintenance. Finally, it died in November 2022 and maintenance told me they’d get a new one in a day later. They couldn’t, and I had to wait from Thursday to Tuesday until I got hot water back. My heater still wasn’t working since they forgot to flush the lines, so they had to come back to tend to that. During this entire time, the leasing office staff took an accusatory tone toward me, saying that I never reported my hot water issue, which is wrong. They were, however, kind enough to give me money to get a shower curtain so I could shower in another vacant unit. After asking persistently for weeks, they gave me some money off rent for my prolonged troubles. This scenario is what made me lower my review to one star instead of anything higher. TL:DR, if you’re looking for a place to live, I’d encourage another location than Cherrywood Village due to poor administration. The value has gotten worse as rates continue to rise, and the amenities are not as nice as they should be for the cost of living in the complex"
