Sterling Boulder Apartments

"Don't live here. There's a lot of advertising for these rooms online (Ralphie's List, Craigslist, etc.) since nobody wants to live here and everyone is trying to leave. Sterling "Apartments" is one of the worst possible living situations in all of Boulder. I never met a fellow resident who enjoyed living here. It's like herding cats in terms of trying to get information from the leasing office. The online payment system is confusing, lots of hidden fees. The ledger is extremely difficult to navigate, there's a separate site that allow you to set up auto-payments, but it's also terrible. A lot of the stuff in the rooms don't work that well. We moved into a subpar "unit" with multiple things broken."

Unfair Practices and Poor Maintenance at Sterling Boulder Apartments As concerned parents of a CU Boulder senior who resided at Sterling Boulder Apartments, we regret to highlight our disappointing experience with the management. Initially, the apartment seemed promising, but the lack of promised maintenance after our son moved in was a notable issue. Despite efforts to rectify unresolved concerns, such as a poorly hung TV, the management's neglect persisted. Upon vacating, we meticulously cleaned the apartment, taking extensive measures to ensure its pristine condition, meticulously documented with photos and videos due to the absence of a proper walkthrough. However, the return of our security deposit was a distressing ordeal. Unjustified deductions were made, citing unreasonable charges, including a cleaning fee of $60 per hour, a mandatory maintenance fee of $105, and inexplicable amounts for window cleaning, all lacking any detailed breakdown or justification. Repeated attempts to communicate with Brittany and the management team were met with blatant disregard, leaving us no choice but to pursue legal action through small claims court. It's disheartening to witness how Sterling Apartments unfairly burdens students and their families, seemingly taking advantage of their situation. Be cautious, as the deposit refund process appears to lack transparency and fairness. Overall, the treatment we received post-tenancy has been concerning, and we caution others to be wary of potentially facing similar challenges."

"Good location but that’s it. If you’re moving in without knowing someone they will put you with whoever, so be prepared… $1200 security deposit and got $500 back. Pool and hot tub were dirty all year. Air conditioning does not reach rooms. They monitor the heaters and didn’t turn them off until almost summer. Staff walked in on me naked after knocking once and me saying don’t come in… Room randomly would lose electricity. Literally choose any other complex on that street. Do not do a shared room, unless you know your roommate- no privacy and you can hear everything."

"I heard a lot of horror stories about renting in boulder but fortunately I've had a pleasant and largely smooth experience with sterling apartments. The office workers, especially Brittany and Allison are very friendly and helpful. The only things I havent liked is the layout of my room and the price, but the former hasn't been a huge issue and the price is an issue with all of boulder, not with sterling. The community is pretty much all CU students so considering that the noise level has been very reasonable, I've never been woken me up all year except once and it was on a Saturday so I couldn't be mad. Also, the staff sets up social events which I have been unable to make yet but I think is a very positive thing. I've also never had an issue with mail or packages."

"They do not maintain their apartments at all. They also will not hire any help to take care of problems within the apartments, so you are fairly well stuck with whatever is wrong with your apartment. When I first arrived I had broken internet, a broken fridge, paint all over the floor, a clogged and broken garbage disposal, and a broken but functioning toilet. I had also talked to many people within the apartment and their situation is the same. This stuff should be fixed over the summer since that’s when their leases start and end and with most of their tenants being college students. The staff is good but the corporate branch does not make their job easy for them whatsoever."
