"We're new to the area and came here to buy bikes yesterday. We told them we're on a top floor with no elevator so we can't bring our bikes inside at night. They said to use a u lock and a cable to lock them up. We woke up this morning to a cut u lock and stolen bike. Called to let them know that was bad advice and they acted like we were stupid for following it."

"I ran into the shop just before closing and quickly picked out a replacement chain for a bmx bike. I accidentally picked out a narrow gauge chain meant for an 8 or 9 speed. After realizing it was too narrow to fit I took it back the next day and they let me exchange it free of charge. Those guys are always so helpful, even when it’s me that made the dumb mistake. Love this shop"

"They're happy to rip you off if they get the chance! You hope you can trust people to do a decent job, but they sold my girlfriend a bike that was barely put together, the wrong size, handlebars off center, seat not even attached. When asked to exchange the bike, which was barely used, they refused. Frustrating they won't honor or correct their mistakes. The staff is generally inexperienced volunteers and often unfriendly."

"I have been a member of Community Cycles since 2020, when I moved to Boulder. People working there are always friendly and I pass by often after my rides to look for some parts. It's for this reason that I leave a 5 star review. I love the work that they do. However, today I had my first bad experience. I asked if I could drop the fork of my bike because I wanted to buy one from them and needed to check the dimensions. I didn't ask for any help, tools, or bike stand. I was just being polite to let them know that I was going to disassemble my fork (I had my own multitool and it's a very easy job for a rim brake road bike). To my disbelief, the guy in charge asked me why I had to remove my fork. I explained that I needed to check the dimensions (e.g., steerer tube diameter) to know if the other fork was going to be a good fit. It seems that he didn't like my reply, so he said that I should pay for using any tools and bike stand. I told him that I was not going to make use of any of their tools or bike stand. He then said that I had 30 min to do whatever I had to do (it was around 2PM, so they were not closing). At that point I just left because I didn't feel welcome. Any bike shop or cycling club should make people feel good, regardless if you are new to the sport or an experienced racer."
