"Excellent shop and customer service. I have bought a machine, which runs amazingly well and bring my machines for service and repairs."
"Bad customer service. Customer service members laugh at customers when they ask for help and make people feel like they are an”joke”. Shaming someone just starting out with a skill is the worst thing to do. Do better."
"My Personal Opinion is Walk on By. This place not worth the potential trouble. Better to purchase on EBAY. Read ALL the reviews before dealing with this merchant. I purchased a vintage sewing machine from Millard Sewing Center in Omaha because they claim that all machines are thoroughly serviced, cleaned and "adjusted back to spec" . Prices at Millard for vintage machines are substantially higher than elsewhere, but I was reassured that the machine would be in good working order. Upon receipt of the machine I noticed the bobbin thread was stuck in the case; and I was unable to remove it. This minor issue temporarily resolved over the phone with someone; but the fix lasted only a few hours, because the machine needed a repair. In addition the bobbin winder would not work. A couple of days after, the stitches began to "bird nest"; and the tension dial was stuck at 4 and would not advance beyond that point. I emailed them advising of the issues and requested permission for me to take the machine to a local repair shop and requested reimbursement for doing so. Nearly three weeks passed without a reply from them. I then took the machine to local repair. There were several problems one being that the spring in the tension dial was warped. My local repair adjusted it but did not replace it (as Millard should have replaced it before selling it to me) My repair shop also adjusted the bobbin winder and cleaned the machine (which had not been properly cleaned prior to sale). I was charged $38.11. I emailed the receipt to Millard and requested reimbursement for the repair. The next day I finally received an email stating that they do not reimburse and I was informed I would have to return the machine to Millard in Omaha for repair. Sending the machine back to Omaha and back would cost me at least $100 since I am in NY. That did not make sense to me being the repair was only $38. But that is their policy I have not received a postage free return label that I requested from them. This company, Millard Sew did not try to work with me even though they sent me a machine that had not been completely cleaned nor properly serviced by them as they had claimed it had. They refused to answer my emails suggesting repair options. The machine had defective parts and parts with part numbers that were for different machines. Under the hand wheel was packed with old black grease. It was disgusting. The experience with them was negative. They attempted to but did not succeed in bullying me into accepting their customer unfriendly and questionable terms. The Law is: "although the express warranty may require you to pay for shipping, you should expect to get what you paid for without paying additional costs. If neither the retailer nor manufacturer will make good, you might be able to cancel the sale under the implied warranty of merchantability. Again, this is where a chargeback or the threat of legal action might help. You should know If you have a full warranty instead of a limited one, you cannot be charged for shipping or reinstallation. And a full warranty cannot be limited to the first purchaser of the product. " The bank ruled in my favor. I received a full credit card refund which included shipping costs and repair."
"I took my sewing machine that had been purchased at Sears about 20 years ago in to be serviced. I wanted to make a baby blanket for my 1st grand baby due in December. This shop is great! They serviced the machine which was not expensive when purchased (I’m sure) and never pressured me to purchase something new or better. I hadn’t sewn anything since high school so I took the Get to know your machine class that was offered. They helped me learn the ins and outs of my machine and I was able to practice the basics with help. I decided to take the First Projects class since they were so helpful. They helped me cut and start my baby rag quilt and it turned out really cute! They never made me feel dumb for not knowing. I couldn’t be happier with Millard Sewing! Everyone was so great to work with!"
"I can't speak highly enough of the quality service that Millard Sewing Center has to offer. Besides offering some very fine vintage machines at reasonable prices, they more than make good on purchases that are shipped out of state. I live in Tucson, AZ and had ordered a restored Necchi BF Mira. It was a beautiful machine, but when it arrived the machine was jammed (the balance wheel wouldn't even turn by hand) though there was no visible damage to the box or to the machine (which was very well packed). I called the store and received courteous and helpful advice from Brandon (who had thoroughly tested the machine before shipping) but after several phone calls and attempts to unjam the machine, we were not able to get the machine going. In all this, Brandon was very patient and clear in his instructions and suggestions. I finally decided to take the machine to my local repair man, and he discovered that the drive shaft had been bent in transit by the UPS people, who apparently dropped the box in an awkward way. The shaft could not be repaired. At that point, Brandon offered me a free replacement/substitution of an equivalent machine, the Necchi Esperia, which arrived safely and works like a charm. It is also stunningly beautiful and actually in better shape than the Mira was (photo attached). You can bet that I will be doing business with Millard Sewing Center again when I am looking for another vintage machine or for products relating to the machines that I already have."
