"Highly recommend spending your money ELSEWHERE!!! I initially went to the Ankeny campus to purchase my textbook, to which a sales rep assisted me in finding what I needed. After attending class, I was advised (and confirmed on the syllabus / supply list) that the SEVENTH edition textbook that the Ankeny bookstore sold me was not sufficient to fulfill the ELEVENTH edition requirement for my course. I then contact the Ankeny bookstore and was advised by the sales rep that answered the phone, that the Urban bookstore will swap the textbooks due to their error. I was told this was confirmed by Steven, the Ankeny bookstore manager, and to reference him if there were any issues in the exchange at the Urban bookstore. So, then I went to the Urban bookstore. They did not have any copies of the book ordered, and the manager, DaeVonna stated that she would order them. I requested that she call once the order was received, (estimated date of Tuesday), so I could come make exchange. I confirmed with her on this day that the exchange would not be a problem based on the situation and conversation with the Ankeny sales rep. Fast forward to Tuesday -- I called the Urban bookstore to see if textbooks were received, DaeVonna answered and confirmed they were. I advised her I would be right in to exchange it. Less than 20 minutes later, I arrived to find the bookstore doors closed, lights off, and no hours or note stating of a return. I checked with the campus security officer, who stated that she went to lunch, and that it would likely be an hour wait. An hour later, I went back to the bookstore. DaeVonna was the employee working. I confirmed I needed to make the previously discussed exchanged. She then went into the back room for 3-5 minutes and then came back out and grabbed the new textbook. She then proceeded to answer a call on her cell phone, which was from Steven, the Ankeny store manager. She was requesting assistance on how to process the return / exchange. After about 5 minutes of them going back and forth, DaeVonna said she could only sell me the new textbook and that I would have to go back to the Ankeny bookstore to get a refund on the errored textbook. I calmly stated that this was of many interactions about this error on Follett's part and that I was specifically told this would not be an issue. DaeVonna proceeded to say that it was not her error and that's what I had to do. She then put Steven on speakerphone, to which I explained the circumstances, again, calmly. Then, DaeVonna charged my financial aid for the new textbook. Thereafter, she then was able to return the initial purchase. I apologized for being a pain, but DaeVonnna was not having it. She was unprofessional and downright rude, telling me that I need to keep an even head.. Then had the audacity to tell me that she "Did me a favor by not charging me the $5.xx difference in the books". However, that was a bold faced LIE. I have both receipts and the return and purchase, and each were for the correct amounts. From my experience with Follett at both the Ankeny and the Urban DMACC campuses, there is a severe lack of general caring, efficiency, and knowledge. The Urban bookstore is a waste of time, as they are severely lacking on store appearance, product selection / availability, and worst of all, the service."
