U-Haul Moving & Storage of Ankeny

"When my husband was picking up the U-haul, there was a gentleman very upset that he was getting charged another $300 because he dropped it off to the wrong location. At 7 p.m., when we dropped off the u haul. There was nobody there. There were no obvious numbers to call & the # we did have no one was picking up. For 45 minutes, we tried to get ahold of someone. Finally, someone picked up! When the lady asked what time we got there? My husband said 7- 7:05pm (my husband's watch is 7 minutes ahead) After waiting 45 minutes on them, they wanted to charge us an extra $$$ if we were 5 minutes late! I see how their able to afford their new storage unit & facility in Ankeny! Ask where & when & who will be available at said location for you to drop it off! We got no specific instructions! I wonder how many people have to pay extra cash because of Uhauls' negligence?"

"I reserved a truck and trailer 3 weeks ahead and they end up telling me to pick up truck and trailer in 2 different place. Got the truck at this place and the gas is really low. I never rent Uhaul truck where they have customers pump gas before using the truck. No point of reserving if you don’t prepare for the customers. After that They make me drive all the way to Ames to get the trailer. Customer service is bad. Nothing wrong with being helpful."

"I have used this place several times, for in-town moves and for 5-hour moves. They are courteous, helpful, and always have what I need. Storage boxes? Yep, they've got that. Easy-off packing tape? Yep. Return after hours? Yep. Highly recommend this site and the people who work there."

"Amazing place. Currently under construction so it can be a bit confusing but I’m giving this place 5 stars because the service was impeccable. Met me in the yard when I was checking in my truck and parked it for me. Then I forgot something and they were there and quickly helped me find it. Great job. Will go here for all my moving needs."

"The truck I reserved was not available due to mechanical issues. I was told I would receive a discount. I did not AND the sign at the entrance says a 20 foot truck is $29.95 but I was charged $34.95. The truck they gave me had the service engine light on. Would have rated higher if they would have actually given me a discount or even charged me the price listed on their signs. IF I ever need a U-Haul truck again, I don’t think I will use this location. Hopefully someone actually reads this and corrects these issues. Moving is stressful enough without having all of these issues thrown at you."
