"This is a very nice place to stay on the island. Clean and very nicely appointed furniture. We stayed for a week. The owner left a bottle of wine in the refrigerator for us to enjoy. Nice bathroom and bathtub in the master bedroom and another one in the hallway. Fully stocked kitchen. The only downside was no AC. But the ceiling fans were adequate as long as you left the louvers open. Will definitely return"

"We stayed in Kahala 322. It is a second floor condo. When we walked in, the smell was horrible musty mildew. It was like a sauna in there. It says it has partial AC. If you do not like to sleep in a sauna and heat you will definitely not like this place. I am attaching photos. The bathroom was disgusting. The carpet in the bedroom was old and falling apart. The shower leaked. It needs very serious updates. It's very sad because the property around the unit is beautiful and the walk to the beach is great. The view was amazing. We left the condo the next day. We did get a refund from who we rented it from."

"I'd like to start by saying, I used to LOVE this place. Beginning in 2012, my husband and I have stayed at Kahala at Poipu Kai 5 times over 10 years. For nostalgia and familiarity we decided to book the same exact condo the past 3 times (#832) despite the overall price doubling in recent years, this time for our 20th anniversary vacation. . I understand that housekeeping has a certain protocol they follow, however nothing outside of this, no matter how obvious, seems to get addressed. The carpets have not been shampooed once in the 5 years we have stayed here. They are very, very dirty. Considering the extra near $200 cleaning fee they charge, it seems expected, at least once in a while. There was also mud on the walls. It was as if someones horse-sized dog shook off in the unit. I cleaned it off easily with a sponge up to where I could no longer reach on the 4 main walls so that we didn't have to look at it. This unit really needs some TLC, it is way overpriced for the condition it's in. Tips: Watch out for the angry groundskeepers in their golf carts! They seem to hate tourists and hate their job. Do not expect any return waves or smiles. Walking back from the sunset one evening, the groundskeeper zips around a corner towards us going at least 15 mph. After instinctively moving out of the way onto the grass, giving HIM the right of way AND offering a friendly wave, he continued to give me stink eye and a rude "go away" hand gesture. Year after year when we return, he attempts to make us feel unwelcome. Another guest told us he literally yelled at them when the pool gate closed behind them because it made a noise. Another one of the groundskeepers will stop and glare at you for several minutes as you carefully complete your 6 or 8 point turn (in your compact car) to try to leave the lot. Uncannily, these exact same things happened on our last visit. Ignore the shade they throw, get out and enjoy the amazing magical nature Kaua'i offers. Do not expect to receive any complimentary "late checkouts." They used to be accommodating if there were no guests booked that day. There was no one booked in our condo for 4 days after we departed and housekeeping would still not allow us the extra 2 hours. Do expect construction. Ahhh, the peaceful sounds of Poipu... The past 2 times we stayed, there were loud renovations during the day along with the construction workers screaming at one another. No problem for us, we don't stay in the condo during the day, but some might find this very irritating. But don't let that pool gate lock on it's own, because it makes a noise and irritates the groundskeeper, lol."

"Rented this through bookings.com. They don't allow you to see the actual unit that you stay in. We ended up in the 414 building next to the freeway. Also the unit, although a nice space is kind of a cave. Pretty dark. They also have no towel service and very little soap so bring your own. Also a very tiny washer and dryer so you have to wash stuff all day. A little disappointed for 400 a night"

"Highly recommend staying here. Very nicely up kept grounds and rooms to my observation. Reasonable rates, friendly staff, and great location make this a prime spot to stay."
