Founded by Mr. Hector Portillo, the restaurant has been serving up authentic Mexican cuisine since 2006. Inspired by recipes passed down from his grandmothers in Guerrero, Mexico, Mariachi's offers a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of tastes.
The restaurant quickly became a favorite among the community in Kauai, leading Mr. Portillo to open a second location in the heart of Historic Kapa'a Town. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, Mariachi's is known for its delicious food and great Mexican ambiance.
Chef Meno, a talented and experienced chef born in Mexico, brings a passion for traditional and tasty food to every dish he creates. Juan, the Chef of Mariachi's, has a gift for crafting authentic and handcrafted meals that keep customers coming back for more.

"Food was average but the ambience and views were nice. Good veggie options compared to other places in Kauai. Our order was small quesadillas, veggie taco salad and veggie tacos."
"I enjoyed both the breakfast and the lunch I had here. Their salsas and tortillas are homemade and all the food is made with care and is delicious. The staff are attentive and accommodating and sitting out on the balcony looking out onto the ocean in beautiful Lihue can’t be beat. It’s also right near the 70 Lihue loop shuttle bus, so is easy to get to even without a car."
"We very much like the view and the ambiance of the restaurant but the service was why we had to dock our rating. Got their happy hour carne asada fries and ceviche. I will say they were both very delicious. We also got the crab enchiladas but those were very much not that great. I'm originally from Maryland though so I have high expectations for seafood dishes. My partner thought they were fairly good. However trying to get a hold of the server was a constant battle. Running out of water was a constant battle. And I feel like those two are there minimum for decent service."
"Solid Mexican in Kauai. The mixed green salad was delicious- large and loaded with veggies, including avacado. We also had the chicken fajitas, which were spot on. Service was good, view was nice, and parking was easy."
"Had a great time at Mariachi’s. Good food, good margaritas and guacamole was amazing. I love the interiors and they also had outdoor dining. Portion size is pretty good. Complimentary chips and salsa. Chips were fresh! Tried burritos and veggie fajitas was the best! Definitely recommend trying."
