"I’ve been a tenant since August 2017, it is currently December 2023. I’ve lived in 2 separate units. This is a 1 star apartment. It’s advertised as luxury, but there is nothing luxury about living here. I would not recommend this property to anyone, unless you are seriously on a budget. Apartments are between $650-$1,000. It is owned by Sherman Associates, a company that cares more about money than the property itself. They are very cheap when it comes to expenses, and it SHOWS. We have new washers & dryers that were installed Oct. 2023. They are TERRIBLE. They charge us more money and the dryers literally do not get hot enough to dry your clothes, the washers leave clothes soaking wet. The fitness room is very outdated and small. We do not have access to the community room. Packages get stolen A LOT because delivery drivers do not utilize the package concierge nor do they deliver packages to apartment units. They leave the packages out in the open for any and every one to take. You can ask for the cameras to be pulled, but good luck with that! There are SEVERAL security issues, one being the lack of on-site security guards overnight. No receptionist desk either, which means no one is there to monitor activity in the building. I have caught homeless people sleeping in the lobby, hallways, and stairs. Hallways definitely smell of weed and cigarettes. Drug dealers live in the building as well, I would not recommend this place for families. Literally anyone can get an apartment here, they do not do a good job with interviewing applicants. Which is also a security issue. The building needs SO much maintenance, starting with the dirty carpets on each floor and dirty walls on each floor. Elevators get trashed every weekend if they aren’t broken down. I asked if we could have the outside windows professionally cleaned, and I was told that would cost too much. Smh. Cleaners only come once a week during the day. We never have a consistent maintenance staff. We have had SEVERAL different property managers over the past 6 years. Depending on what floor you live on, there may be roaches. I’ve seen them for myself! There are wasp nests outside my windows, I can’t open my windows during the spring/summer without them flying in, I have made complaints about this but nothing was done about it. The trash chute has been shut down, so we have to walk our trash to the alley where homeless people go through the dumpsters. Lastly, this building is SUPPOSED to be dog free, yet many residents have dogs that poop & pee all over the building and outside the building. It’s ridiculous. If I could afford to move to an actual luxury apartment I would. For now, I just deal with these issues. They told us Dec. 2023 they would be raising our rent as well. The only thing I truly love about this apartment is its close proximity to everything downtown. If you don't have a car, you really don't need one, especially if you are okay with walking 5 minutes to the grocery store, gas station, park, streetcar, or dispensary. The view from my unit is absolutely beautiful. I have the best unit in the building, but I had to go through a lot to get that unit. If you live on an odd number floor, the cabinets are outdated and ugly. The even number floors have dark colored cabinets that are more up-to date. All the units need renovations for sure. It's just a very outdated building unfortunately. It makes you wonder where all the money is actually going smh."
"Everyday is a hassle. I'm sure the property managers are doin what they can, but that doesn't make any less true how terrible this property has been handled. If it isn't Vagrants wandering the Lofts, it's their pets, some of which are big enough to harm people unlucky enough to run into one simply trying to get home or leave for the day. Packages constantly getting stolen, amenities they don't actually have or are nothing like advertised. I had to get rid of parking cause of how confusing it was. They never explained anything about it. Or how the metal gates on Main can open with your parking pass. They just said the other side was open(it wasn't), & that's it. A good chance you'll get at least 1 terrible neighbor. When most of them are good it doesn't matter when there's at least 1 terrible guy conveniently next to you. Mine love to fight & scream & yell. I see 3 people at least living there at a time. Constant loud noises coming from them. And this isn't even the half of it. The back alley is constantly covered in trash for many reasons, like the vagrants digging in it. Or let's talk about the random men that love pissing there, an Apartment complex that has children living there as well. The constant accidental or without warning fire alarms that'll go off. It's gotten so bad I'm sure most tenants in these apartments that don't have kids just choose to ignore it & I can't blame them. It's Always a false alarm. My apartments bathroom was permiated with the smell of tobacco smoke. The walls were caked yellow. Took multiple times cleaning the walls to mostly get rid of the tobacco smell. The cabinets in the kitchen were also yellow and sticky. The only good thing about it was that it mostly lacked pests. I saw maybe 3 roaches in my Apartment all of 2023. So congrats. Also, the absolute gall to let us know of a rent increase the same day they had submit the rent increase approval to the MHDC after everything that happened this year. As well as the apartments Inability to keep their tenants safe. If they could, That 5 year old boy from the 17th FL would probably still be here. May he rest in peace."
"I moved here about three years ago and noticed a gradual reduction of amenities. We went from three dumpsters to one, and now there’s garbage strewn or along the alley. We can no longer use the garbage chutes. And there’s only two working washing machines. It’s a great location and great rent but these things really need to get handled in a better communication needs to be done with the tenants. I’ve emailed my concerns with no response"
"Place is going down hill! Elevators is janky, dog and human urine is always plied up on elevators. Washer’s and dryer’s in the laundry room is broke been broke for months! Homeless people always have access to building. Neighbors steal packages. Meth heads all up and down building and be on my door twisting my knob tryna get in, in the middle of the night. Management. Change every month. Has pest problems. Trash chute is always broke. Management is horrible. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!"
"They suck. Neighbors are all great except for one that plays loud music all hours of the day. GBL did nothing to remedy the situation after multiple complaints. You can also purchase parking for $55 a month in a secure garage right next to Sky on Main - two blocks away but don't expect much information: They failed to tell me the shudders that close at night can be opened by the parking pass and my brand new car was towed. I eventually lost that car. After a severe head injury that happened in the apartment I received no help whatsoever from them. Avoid this place at any cost. I have proof that they fail to live up to their own policy in email and pictures."
