"I recently visited Brookside 51 and had an amazing tour with Taylor. She showed me all the amenities that Brookside 51 has to offer and answered all my questions. Love the courtyard!"
"It's simply 2 stars for the price. I've lived a lot of places and I know everywhere has problems, but Brookside doesn't deliver for the price tag. Management has been great, but it's the little things. $1500 rent for a place with expanding pipes that go off with hot water or randomly in general. $1500 rent to have to take an elevator to my car that smells like trash 50% of the time. $1500 rent to use a third party company that messed up the lock to my door multiple times and have techs who unplug my modem (???). The only fix I was given for anything was the option to move to another apartment (when one opens up) or be released from my lease. I denied both options, being tired from moving already and thinking I would get used to it. But to pay this much money for these daily inconveniences has worn me down after two months of living here. It just feels less and less worth it."
"I would not recommend Brookside 51 or Greystar management. You will get hit with many move out charges after turning in your keys. We attempted to do a move out walk through with the manager via email and were completely ignored. They do not want to give you a walk through so they can add as many post charges as possible. If you try to contact the office after moving out, they will tell you to contact the management company. We told the management company we did not agree with the charges and were once again never replied to. Now the management company has sent us to collections 3 years after moving out and 2 years without any responses to our charges queries. I would strongly urge everyone to get everything in writing and make the staff comply with a move out walk through. I would also like to add that if you are looking for a luxury community to live, this is not it. You will find the door to the parking garage breaks weekly, doors in the building to do not work so are left open and not safe, elevators break constantly, trash everywhere sitting for multiple days and smelling terrible. I hope this review saves someone from the nightmare we’ve gone though."
"I lived here for 2 years. Living close to UMKC, Whole Foods, and the plaza is great. Fire alarms went off a few times but not enough to be a huge issue. Yes there was construction for months but I wasn’t so bothered by it. However, as time progressed the price quickly became less and less justified by the level of unprofessionalism, mistakes, and maintenance issues. They switched management companies 1 time but there seems to be a high turnover for office and maintenance staff. When I renewed my lease the first time, I was sent an offer and I accepted. As time passed, I never heard anything and so I went to the office and asked when can I sign my new lease. One of the assistant managers or leasing managers said that I never accepted the offer (I had email receipts and confirmation that I did and it was an overlook on their side) I was told they would “honor it this time” ???? The door to the garage was broken many times (see photos) and so using an alternative door was required or simply left unlocked for months and no key fob was needed. If you move in PLEASE never live by a trash chute room because the hallway will smell. It’s jammed on average once a week and neighbors aren’t considerate. They will continue to pile trash in the room even though they could take it downstairs to the loading dock area and throw it away."
"Continually disappointed. Pinnacle Management Company advertises 'exemplary customer satisfaction' and a 'lavish collection of amenities', and even though we pay some of the highest rent in Kansas City ($1,787/month for a 1-bedroom), they have consistently failed to deliver on their promises. We have had countless issues with the quality of the building and its construction. We have been extremely patient when dealing with maintenance and management while addressing these problems. Unfortunately, in our experience when dealing with both the local and regional management teams for Pinnacle Property Management, we have been met with a lack of empathy, accountability, and communication. Both the on-site management team and maintenance teams have completely turned over in the 14 months we have been here and we have been without a Lead Maintenance Technician for 4 months. We had hoped that the new management team would be able to right the ship and deliver a better experience for the residents, but unfortunately it's been more of the same. We have had so many issues that required multiple maintenance requests, then follow-ups to maintenance and management to ensure they are working on it, only to have to provide photo or video evidence of the issue for them to take it seriously or have to fix it myself. From elevator issues, broken hot water heaters, low water pressure, broken door locks, windows that don't seal, lack of promised amenities, community cleanliness issues - it seems like they have never been able to get it right. I do need to be honest and say that we love the location in Brookside, having access to the Trolley Trail and Whole Foods, and our view of Nelson Atkins; it's just everything else about the property and management team that leaves us disgruntled and disappointed. If our lease renewal cutoff date had not fallen in the middle of the COVID-19 shutdown, we would have definitely moved to another 'real' luxury apartment. Hopefully, someone within the organization can turn Brookside 51 into the community Pinnacle Property Management advertises. Oh, I almost forgot that the building has been under construction for about 11 of our 14 months of living here. After the 'Grand Opening' in July of 2019, crews have been back on-site last fall and again this year since February from 8am to 6pm at least 5 days a week. They are replacing the stone facade on the exterior of the building and we've had the pleasure of listening to OSHA beeps and feeling like we're in a dentist chair with all of the drilling. Talked to management about the issue, especially with the COVID lockdown keeping us stuck at home and they were less than sympathetic, offered no resolution, and couldn't even tell us the correct times the construction was to start. Good times! For now, I cannot recommend moving into Brookside 51, especially at the extremely high rent they are charging. 6/29/30 Response to owner: Hi, During our phone call on 6/23/20, I politely declined your in-person meeting request and stated I would prefer to communicate via e-mail to ensure we minimize any miscommunications. You said that you understood my perspective and agreed to combine all of our outstanding issues into one e-mail that you would send to me later in the week. You also said that a Construction Manager from VanTrust was going to be helping with our windows, but we have yet to hear from anyone. Are you now saying that the only way to have my issues addressed is to meet face-to-face during a pandemic? Is this why you have not replied to my e-mails from 6/16 and 6/22?"
