About the Business

Getaway Ozark Highlands Cabins

Getaway Ozark Highlands Cabins is a lodging institution located at 11750 Northeast 230 Road in Osceola, Missouri, United States. Just 2 hours from Kansas City, MO, this Outpost offers multiple walking trails for guests to immerse themselves in nature. The cabins are nestled along a ridge, providing stunning views of lush hills and forests with majestic hardwood trees that change with the seasons.

Guests can enjoy the convenience of a 100-year-old general store on-site, which offers essentials like burgers, beer, local wine, and supplies. The store also delivers to the Outpost. The area features a 2.1-mile, dog-friendly loop trail through Pomme de Terre State Park, passing through beautiful spots with oak, maple, and hickory trees.

For entertainment, guests can watch rodeos, barrel races, and more at the Saddle Club. Cabins are scattered throughout the Outpost, but guests are asked to keep noise levels down to ensure everyone can enjoy the peace and quiet. Due to the secluded nature of the Outposts, cell phone service may be limited, but each cabin is equipped with a landline for emergencies.

Parking is available near each cabin, and guests can expect to see other cabins on the land. Some cabins run on a limited supply of water, so guests are encouraged to be mindful of their consumption. Tents are not allowed at the Outpost to preserve the solitude for all guests.

Every time a Getaway is booked, a donation is made to One Tree Planted. Guests can sign up for exclusive offers, updates, and tips on making the most of their time in nature. Signing up for text messages unlocks a 15% discount on the first Getaway booking.

"lovely place, i’ve stayed here before and probably plan to again. this time i stayed with my mom and got the queen bunk beds, which are fine other than the top bunk having maybe two feet of space height-wise. i think my only downside is mostly just me being clumsy, but the corners are genuinely so sharp and you will go home with several bruises from them. again, great getaway, beautiful view, fun nature paths, cute cabins."

"We frequent Getaway and we’re always impressed. It’s easy to relax as soon as you get to your campsite. Amenities were so thoughtfully provided, so while it’s a minimalistic experience, it’s by no means lacking. These were obviously created with relaxation and disconnecting from everyday life in mind. The space is beautiful inside and out, with hiking trails and ideas for sightseeing in surrounding areas. We will keep coming back!"

"Very quiet and solitary: saw a good number of deer and a flock of turkeys from the cabin in addition to the trails. Well-spaced lots on a large piece of land- decently priced value. Will return if they ever allow for cats in some of their cabins in the future. Do note- the cabins do creak a decent bit and you will hear the appliances running."

"We stayed a night and thought the cabin was nice, a bit smaller than I’d like but thoughtfully stocked with the basics you need for a weekend trip. I know space is limited but having to wash your face in the kitchen sink wasn’t the easiest. And with only a tiny mirror in the cabinet door putting contacts in was tricky. Still doable. One thing I’d like to see is free tea and coffee. The cabins are not cheap for the space you get so charging for everything you use adds up. Luckily we brought our own. Overall a nice spot but I think a bigger space is better for me."

"This place was awesome! We last minute decided to do something spontaneous for an anniversary and booked 2 nights here. We decided on it as it was close enough to KC but secluded. It was a great was to unwind and escape without having to rough it too much, and we could bring our dogs! Cooking over a fire was totally optional with everything they provide in the cabin (although we opted to b/c why not!). This is a great way to escape the grind without escaping certain comforts like electricity, running water, showers/toilets, and AC. Not much to do here other than relax. The walking trail is very pretty, but bring bug spray for sure! The staff was incredibly helpful, kind, generous and responsive! We're already thinking about our next trip!"
