Founded 107 years ago by Robert R. Sutherland, Sutherlands is a privately-owned, family run organization based in Kansas City, Missouri. As one of the largest privately-owned home improvement center chains in the United States, we operate 49 stores across 14 states. Our stores range in size from small lumberyards to large 140,000 square foot warehouse stores, offering a wide range of products at competitive prices.

"We manage over 100 properties and I notice the clothes out tables at your store. I called my boss header come down and the lady that works in the paint department was absolutely rude had a horrible attitude so I went to the front of the store and was talking to the manager about it and some other heavy set lady, but it ended our conversation and told me that she didn't appreciate how. "After driving around KC searching furniture stores for a sofa and chair, and not finding something that was nice quality and appropriately priced, I decided to search online. I found some sofas I liked on Ashley's website, and remembered I had seen and liked them at Sutherland's. That same day, in Sutherland's circular, I saw those sofas on sale for an unbelievable price! We hurried over to purchase four pieces of furniture and four days later, not weeks, we have them. Would have never thought I would find it in a home improvement store."
