"As someone who went through pps all the way through highschool and is now looking back after reviving an entry level college education , i hope the people leading/making decisions for PPS suffer for a long long time for the countless amount of children's lives they have ruined. I'm not speaking in hyperbole, every single year before highschool (aka K-8, and in K-8 teachers very strictly had to follow the curriculum made by PPS) all my english classes before highschool were only 1 unit about poetry & the same exact unit about argumentative essays, actually the same exact unit in 7th grade as the one we got in 3rd grade. PPS is ruining lives and should be arrested or worse for what they know they're doing to kids, because it's not a mistake it's known negligence."

"This year honestly the school district is in complete shambles. First the teachers go on strike for two weeks and finally they negotiate an agreement with them. They have no funds even with help from Oregon! Teachers have to buy supplies with their own money! Then they decided to make up a week for the strike by taking a week out of Winter Break which the teachers were mad about but honestly cope you were the ones going on strike, but then a few weeks after winter break ended there was a snow storm for a week so that was pointless. Now they're probably going to add time onto the days or take two weeks out of summer which is sort of sad. Honestly I think the teachers caused some of this, but those aren't the worst problems. The schools are completely falling apart and their attempts to remodel them are displacing most of the kids that might have gone to those campuses. Plus the people higher up on the ladder get payed way too much and they make the entire system completely dysfunctional. The school districts problems are really just a shadow of the entire City of Portland. Honestly kind of sad, I don't know if they'll ever be able to recover. One star."

"Where is the funding going? With so many schools that need remodels desperately and so many internal issues with each school, why does PPS have a PR team? They are already extremely hated in Portland, just behind the police for public services. The admin is unhelpful, yet they receive more than the teachers who are actually doing the more important work."

"I would give zero stars if possible. They have basically just told 300 8th grade students that their 10 years of learning was for nothing. The Japanese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese program have been working for their Research Residency since Kindergarten and some since Pre K. This year (and last year) they have been stalling and making excuses on why 8th graders in the duel language programs can't go on the research residency that has been hyped up all year!!! The board is asking questions that have all been answered in letters (from students) and meetings with teachers!! What's that? The meetings got cancelled without warning? Oh what a shame! Truly disgraceful. To all the duel lnguage teachers in PPS, this is not over. We need to keep fighting for the students. 5 guess in fancy suits should not decided the fate of 10 years worth of learning. Thank you teachers. 唐揚げちゃんでして。ありがとう。"

"After learning just today that Guadalupe Guerrero has decided to step down, I for one, as a tax payer wholeheartedly support this decision. Especially given how the PPS school district has financially compensated this man for his years of service at the tax payers expense. This information was made public knowledge back in 2022 by an article put out by the Portland Tribune. I would encourage you to have a look at this so you see how your hard earned tax dollars are being spent. I think if more tax payers were made aware of this information they too would understand why our schools our suffering due to mismanagement of funds. Especially at the district level. I worked for Portland Public Schools for well over 20 years. The last 7 out of the district office and saw plenty during my time there. I've since retired. Best gift I ever gave myself. If the district truly cares about our students, teachers and staff then it's high time they start showing it. This can be achieved my paying a fair salary to "All" employees regardless of their position/title and reorganization in all departments. When I was working my supervisor and the office manager were both making and still are close to $100,000 each per year. More than a seasoned school teacher. There's something very wrong with this picture. The scales are not balanced. Not by a long shot. And this is only one example. My understanding is that Guadalupe will be taking some time off to spend with family and to address self care. He has your hard earned tax dollars to thank for this. Now I ask, how many of you have the luxury of doing the same. We have a voice people. Let's use it."
