"Some items are OK but the brisket was way to dry even though I asked for moist with a little fat. Brisket is not to be served that dry and have to smother with sauce to make it taste better ."
"I am new to Ruston & have been craving bar b que for months. Today, I finally discovered Hot Rod’s! This is what I will be serving Super Bowl Sunday. The brisket, ham, beans & potato salad is the absolute best. The bar b que sauce, is quite unique & unlike all the others. Not too sweet & with a little tang, Perfection!"
"I stop in for take out every time we go to the deer camp. Their barbecue is delicious! I call ahead for a family pack, and they have everything ready when I come through. We have enough to eat the whole weekend and never get tired of it. We have tried everything on their menu. It's all good!"
"They served me old food that was not edible. I complained and was promised either a replacement meal or a refund for the next day. When I came by, the manager was very rude to me and to add insult to injury, she did so in front of other customers .She was argumentative and reluctantly gave me a refund. Her attitude was unwarranted and inappropriate. My family and I have been loyal customers for years and it's clear our business isn't appreciated and our support isn't deserved. We won't be returning and rightfully so."
"Good always falls short of great. You get your food in a line buffet style and then seat yourself. The first time I try a new barbecue joint, I like to get a combo so I can taste more menu items. I ordered a 3 meat combo with brisket, ribs, & pulled pork. The brisket failed the pull that. The flavor was just ok and it didn't have that Texas tenderness. The pulled pork was average. The beans came from a can and the slaw wasn't great either. The ribs were the best thing I tried and would be the only thing that would make me want to go back."
