"My dad spent a wonderful 9+ years here before he joined Mom in heaven. He enjoyed the beautifully kept grounds of Terrace Gardens, a 62 plus senior apartment. There is a small lovely rose garden as you enter the front door, and the central garden area is meticulously maintained. It is a safe environment with front entrance controlled by residents' key fobs, and additional keys required to enter the buildings. Front desk is open Mon through Fri, during office hours no key fobs needed to enter the front entrance to reach garden area, but keys will still be required to enter the buildings. There are security key panels to call the residence to be buzzed in. It is not a new construction, I think over 30 years already, given the age of the apartment buildings, I can see the management has put in sufficient efforts to keep up the facilities. Each apartment is the same size: one bedroom, living room, small kitchen, bathroom, and a balcony. Ground floor would have a small yard in lieu of balcony, I would say probably 600 Sq. Ft. Laundry room is on the first floor with enough washer, driver for the residents. There is a mandatory dinner program Monday through Friday, sit down style, 3 courses served. People from non-western ethnicity may not find the food to their liking, but I think the menu is well thought of and nutritiously balanced. Location is just so great: close to 237/880/680, across the street from City Hall which has a Senior Center. Right next to a shopping plaza that has Citibank, Chase Bank, an Asian supermarket (marina grocery), CVS, and some restaurants. Walking distance to a large plaza that has a Safeway. Rental is subsidized. Given the location, size of the apartment and environment, I think it is very reasonable: current going rate is approximately 1200ish for one or 1400ish for two due to the meal program. There is income limitation. It is not for very low earners unless family member can provide financial affidavit, and it is not for the super rich either. Highly recommend it."
