"I got a nail plate burn and a cut along the matrix of my nail from the nail techs E-file nail drill and was visibly bleeding as a result. When I pointed this out, the nail tech acted as if she hadn’t noticed. The nail tech then recommended that I simply soak my foot in the foot bath (which I also pointed out was visibly dirty) to which I declined. I had to insist that she clean the area of broken skin with alcohol. She then sprayed my foot with an unmarked bottle and stated “it’s alcohol”. The nail tech did not offer to bandage the open cut (to prevent contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials from herself per the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology) either—which is concerning for obvious reasons. And then to top it off she dropped her towel (which was hanging over the back of her stool, DRUG IT ALONG THE FLOOR WITH HER SHOE, picked it up and wiped my foot with it… where there is a very visible open cut. Fortunately OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030, covers exposures to potentially infectious materials in nail salons but I still feel worried/grossed out. My toe is now red/inflamed. It was truly the first and only experience I’ve ever had in fifteen years of getting my nails done where I felt that the sanitation of the establishment needed to be addressed by a licensing entity. I told the nail tech that I was concerned about the sanitation given that I am almost 9 months pregnant and therefore more vulnerable/susceptible to infection. She responded simply with “I’m sorry”. The nails were also a very sloppy job. The manicure actually had to be “fixed” but I did not feel comfortable asking the nail tech to fix my toes given the circumstances. This was by far the most bizarre, unsanitary and unpleasant experience I’ve ever had at a nail salon."

"Title: Disappointing Manicure Experience I recently had a manicure that left me less than satisfied, especially considering the hefty price tag attached. The service fell short of expectations, and I couldn't help but feel I didn't get my money's worth. From subpar nail shaping to a rushed polish application, the overall experience was disappointing. I expected more attention to detail for the price paid."

"So they most definitely used Methyl Methacrylate(MMA) on my nails. I got my nails done about a month and a half ago and I am still experiencing issues from this acrylic manicure. The initial reaction was chemical burns which I didn’t realize until later on since the technician also made my cuticles bleed so I thought it was just burning from that. When I tried to remove the acrylic about 3 weeks after application, it turned into a gooey mess and after 3 attempted soak offs they would not budge. So I just ended up filing them off as much as possible until they could grow out. But now the acrylic is starting to flake off and taking my nail plate with it. In one of the pictures you can see the dent where my nail literally just ripped off and it is very sensitive. I was also charged $70 for the technician to not do what I asked. I asked for medium length blood red stilettos and that is not what I got. The apex was bumpy and there were so many mistakes including them not even being sharp, they were not shaped well, the gel polish was very poorly applied, and the color was not what I asked for(I had a reference photo). The technician also made my cuticles bleed, even though I told him multiple times that he was hitting my skin with the nail drill. I am now left with paper thin nails that are uncomfortable to do anything with as well as nail fractures and screwed up cuticles from the chemical burns. TLDR; POSSIBLE MMA EXPOSURE. DO NOT GO HERE."
