"Absolutely gorgeous. My fiancé and I went to look at Linmar for a potential wedding venue and we were not disappointed. The owners, the tour guide, and the gardener were all very friendly and welcoming!"
"Linmar is a cute quaint private garden with a 50 plus year story of acquisition, development, and personal accomplishment. The owners, curators, operators are up in years but love to tell the stories and meet people. See it soon as I fear it will disappear one day when the owners pass on...it seems to lack an obvious and enthusiastic heir. I hope I am wrong. Check the hours for tour times. you cannot just walk thru. But..don't miss it. There are no amenities but a portapottie."
"We have lived in Galena for about 4 and a half years. I saw this garden advertised in magazines. We found it easily. I know a cat shelter nearby in a Victorian mansion, so I was familiar with the area. It was a nice visit to this beautiful garden. I love stone, and there is much of that. The story of how the stone was brought in is amazing, and of the work that is involved. Nice people who attend to this garden and give the tours. Well worth the visit."
"This place is phenomenal. While it is not advertised as such, the garden is one of the closest you’ll see to a Japanese shaded garden in the US. The selection of plants is unique in that it is adapted to the challenges of the soil and the local critters (deer). Hal, Bob, and Janet are all excellent people and are great fun to chat with at the conclusion of the tour. I highly recommend this place and you won’t regret spending the ten dollars as you’ll walk away with some great memories, conversation, and photographs. Give this place a look the next time you are here."
"I highly recommend visiting! The gardens are beyond gorgeous, and the history behind the area is so interesting. The online pictures do not do this place justice by any means. If you have an HR to spare, it will be well spent here at Linmar."
