"Well, this place is just a mix of things. The food was ok - not great, but not terrible. The prices are about 20% higher than comparable restaurants. When you enter, you are expected to order at the counter, which is immediately followed with a tipping option. If you have ever waited tables, then you know to tip in cash at the table, so I never include the tip before the meal. And I am so glad I didn't do that here - less because the food was not great, but because we never saw the waitstaff once. The cook brought out the meal. The hostess was much more focused on talking to her friends. Look, this place has a lot of great reviews and, odds are, all those reviews are well deserved. My experience today was much, much different. Maybe I will try it again in the future."

"You must place your order at a counter and they serve you when it’s ready. But it’s not really clear if they have table service or not. After bringing our food, our drinks needed refilled. Several employees were in the dining area at the time. However, they all walked back into the kitchen. We finally had to go up and get more drinks. As I get older, these “little” things mean so much! Food was hot but dried out. Fried Chicken had a slight overcooked (and dry) taste with little to no seasoning. Cucumber salad was limp and wimpy with a sweet taste. Pies look so much better than they taste!!! Not a true homemade taste, tasted like artificial ingredients. Pretty expensive meal with only 2 of us. (No alcohol)"

"Great atmosphere and friendly waitstaff. Restaurant is clean and beautiful. The southern fried chicken salad is scrumptious. The roast beef was ok but not much in flavor.The salad with steak medallions was top notch. Lunch was delicious and filling. The pies....oh the pies...I think I gained 20 lbs. Just viewing the display case of tantalizing treats! Definitely worth the stop"

"We live in Chicago and we found this place during a trip to my friends wedding. The hotel we were staying at was right next to this Restaurant and everyday we smelled the delicious food. We decided to have lunch and it was a good decision. The food is good, Great place to eat, the fried chicken was delicious. The pies are big and very tasty. They have a buffet so the whole family can eat to their hearts content. Recent visit: we tried the Lobster Mac-n-cheese and it was delicious. The smashed potatoes with brown gravy are delicious."

"Delicious food! The Southern Fried Chicken salad had some of the best chicken I've ever had! We also ordered the meatloaf and the pork macaroni and cheese both very tasty! I would highly highly reccomend trying the chicken if you get a chance to stop at this restaurant. It is a great find on a long trip!"
