About the Business

OCHRE HOUSE THEATER

Ochre House Theater, located at 825 Exposition Avenue in Dallas, Texas, is a unique and intimate 55-seat storefront theater in a 100-year-old building near the Texas State Fairgrounds. The theater is known for its critically acclaimed and audience celebrated unorthodox theater productions, all of which are hand-crafted by a core group of innovative artists.

Artistic Director Matthew Posey debuts original dark comedies with music, such as the upcoming production of PATTI & THEO, which tells the story of struggling artists in Brooklyn, New York whose lives are unraveling due to their reliance on alcohol. The theater prides itself on engaging, shocking, and mystifying audiences with each world premiere show.

Posey, who has a long career in writing, directing, producing, and acting for stage and screen, brings his passion for experimental live theater to Ochre House. The theater is a must-visit for live theater enthusiasts, lovers of good storytelling, and those seeking the undiscovered in Dallas' arts scene.

As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Ochre House welcomes donations, sponsorships, and grants to support its mission of creating original and innovative theater experiences. Visitors can also show their support by purchasing apparel and merchandise featuring Ochre House graphics.

For those looking to stay up-to-date on Ochre House shows and events, the theater offers timely text notifications with information on discounted tickets and day-of-show details. Whether you're a seasoned theatergoer or a newcomer to the arts scene, Ochre House Theater promises a unique and unforgettable experience in live entertainment.

"KAPUT was a great show! Had a great time for my first experience in the theater. Quite an intimate feel and not big, but still a good time! Had driven by the theater a few times, but never stepped in. Came to support a cast member and friend (Janet). Writer/Director Matthew Posey did an awesome job and cast and music was superb. Definitely come back again in the future!"

"This is always a good call. It’s perpetually a laboratory space for a very seasoned troupe of professionals—I’ve never left without an image or an idea or a moment that doesn’t linger with me. Most often plays with music, seats 60 or so, perhaps the most unique theater in DFW—especially considering its longevity. Highly highly recommend—if you don’t love the first show, wait a few weeks and go see the next one."
