"I recently moved to Austin and had an appointment with Dr. Montoya. He talked over me several times and did not seem to recognize that I might actually have some knowledge/expertise in *my own* experience. Upon trying to get my prescriptions, I realized he actually did not listen to anything I said about what medications I take and what I have found to work for me to get my epilepsy under control. He prescribed the wrong dosages and is refusing to give me a rescue medication that I've been successfully using for almost a decade under the care of my previous neurologist. The only rescue medication he's willing to prescribe is not covered by my insurance, so it is over $700. He also prescribed the wrong version of one of my daily medications, which nearly tripled the cost of my 30 day supplies. I've been trying to resolve this with the office, but they do not return calls when they say they're going to and I've had to follow up multiple times."

"This place used to be great. Now it seems that over the past 3 years all the good caring people have left and that. the entire caseload was dumped on one guy. who cant even get a medical history. without making the patient feel like they are being interrogated for a crime."

"Seriously needs work. I wish the receptionist likes her job or was qualified to work in customer service and health care. i’m a patient here and if you have the option i would recommend coming anywhere else because they will make the process of getting care the most inconvenient and stressful it could be. For example- i asked for a dr note for my class that i missed and she sent me the note for the wrong person. Or i was supposed to get a prescription a month before the clinic actually sent it in( i had to call twice ). They put me on HOLD for 10 minutes. HOLD when i am trying to speak with my Dr about questions about medications. It’s crazy. anyways"

"Attempting to get established here in Austin and had a poor experience at AECC. The receptionist is rude in person and over the phone. Complete lack of customer service skills. Can't believe a professional office would have someone like her as the first impression. Dr. Montoya lacks the ability to listen. He made a mess of my meds and I had to call back to get my script fixed through his Nurse so the dosage would be correct. Wanted me to return every couple of months for a check up eventhough I was on an annual basis with my previous Dr. since my condition is well controlled."

"He identified my diagnosis immediately, he gave me balanced medical prescriptions, and he was beside me, on time, cheering me on through any hospital stays. He plans appointments so I have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. Also, his communication about drug side effects have been consistent, reliable, and he gives accurate expectations for starting a medication or how to wane off of it. I highly recommend his caring attitude towards his patients and his continually researched assistance."
