Hillside Inn

"Wanted a quick close to home get away for anniversary and was just disappointed Rooms are definitely presented better on website than in person ...cleanliness is subpar...im a smoker and had accepted waking outside to smoke when needed because the way the booking presented was that the room had whirlpool tub.. the whole reason I booked this was for the tub I didn't get . ...oh don't walk into your room and realize it wasn't what you thought you booked cause now you were in it you're screwed. . What a joke would of been better off staying at a cheap chain motel"

"We picked this hotel for the location and the old fashioned appearance. It's a great location, and the view is awesome! If it hadn't been so cold out, we would have probably walked everywhere! The hotel entry was a bit nostalgic with the little indoor pond and a couple of goldfish, but that was the extent of it. The jacuzzi tub in the room was so loud you couldn't conversate or hear music/TV and the actual jacuzzi feature was very faint. The bathroom has the tiniest doorway I've ever seen. There is very little counter space, and the shower head is super low on the wall. If you're taller than about 5' 8" you're not fitting under it. Oh, and the complimentary toiletries do not smell good at all. The sliding glass door to the balcony was near impossible to get locked after we stepped out to enjoy the view. The breakfast was probably the most disappointing. Everything was so bland. I made a plate of biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and it tasted like nothing. I tried adding some pepper and still no. I didn't even try any breakfast meats because they were colorless like they had been boiled. I ended up eating a bowl of cereal and a muffin. We really wanted to like this place but it fell short quite a bit. Couldn't really rate the service as we didn't have much interaction with the staff other than a smile as we entered and exited the hotel."

"My family lives near Madison and I've often driven by the place when staying with them though I'm from out of town. This time me and my partner decided to get a room here. I called in advance and they were very upfront with the fact that they can't guarantee what room view you will have and I accepted that. I went with a queen bed, balcony view, and a jacuzzi. The views were lovely. The jacuzzi fits two (if your a tad creative and don't mind being close) and the pillows and bed were soft and plush. The morning breakfast was standard fare but I'm glad it was there just the same. It is an older hotel but the been in old hotels that were in much worse condition. I can tell they are trying to keep this one updated"

"The views from the Hillside Inn are unbeatable, and the balconies are so lovely. This was our second stay with Hillside, but I have yet to be brave enough to use the old shower. Paint peeling, stains on the old chair, and squeaky broken mattress were disappointing. Also wouldn’t drink the coffee- it was in the bathroom! Will definitely stay here again when someone buys it & fixes the rooms, especially for that price."

"We have been here every year for 20+ years and have ALWAYS had a great experience. Views are spectacular. Rooms are always clean and neat. Only issue is noise from cars going over bridge to Kentucky but we will continue to stay there every time we go regardless. Staff very friendly. HIGHLY recommended."
