"Highly deceptive practices. Initially Karla Schmidt in Texas sold me the policy. She was then removed as my agent for some reason I do not know. After a few years they made changes to my policy and wrote them in the declarations even though I DID NOT not make any changes to my policy. They claimed they sent me a letter in the mail to verify my employment. I never received the letter. I never received a phone call or an email either. I was charged extra due to them assuming my wife and I were unemployed. We were not. I tried to get the money back and was told they would not back date the payment due to it being a new calendar year and me having a new car. I will be filing a complaint with the attorney general. This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. DO NOT USE"

"BE WEARY!!!!!!!BE WEARY!!!!!!!BE WEARY!!!!!!!BE WEARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Horace Mann is a deceptive company. From inception, I have had so many issues with this company. In April 2021, I obtained auto insurance from Horace Mann through Chamara Fields (TX). At the very beginning I was seeing multiple, simultaneous charges. After examining the account, Fields was gauging my insurance premiums to obtain whatever payout she gets from my premiums. This went on for months, until I finally asked her to be removed. Unfortunately, she remained on there and was still making changes according to corporate. Meanwhile the company itself is awful. They will short change you wherever they can, especially when it comes to claims. They're about as competent and reliable as a drug fiend strung out-they will take you for everything you got and lie and manipulate to obtain your money. And this plague and stench is all the way to the top! There are very few that are honest, just, and amiable in this company and those that are probably don't stay long."
