IHOP

"We went to this location the other night on National Pancake day for the free short stack. The waitress wasn't rude or anything, she just never came to check on us after the food arrived (quite quickly I might add.) I didn't expect to get high service since it was a freebie day. Pancakes were...ok. They were free. There was no syrup served with the pancakes, we just found a random one on a nearby table but it only had on a few ounces left it. I guess they weren't going to refill them until free pancake day was over. The booth we sat in needs an upgrade, that's all I'll say about the ambience. Didn't get any napkins with the food. Also didn't ask (didn't want to press my luck on freebie day). Also, with the syrup dispenser being so sticky, I wanted to clean my hands. No sanitizer available, although the manager did look for it. All in all, it was an ok experience. I imagine they were probably bombarded that day with folks looking for free pancakes so me and my daughter ate ours quickly without bothering the waitress, then cleaned up after ourselves and left."

"My neighborhood IHOP is on Alta Mesa. Let me start by saying that one is excellent. We were on the other end of town, so I thought we would try the one on University Avenue. All started well, but then it was as if the waitress became distracted, and once there were too many customers, she could not do as well as she was doing. She told my wife her jacket was too long hanging on the chair and it was getting in the way off her walking to other customers and that she might want to move it. My wife is one that likes to exceed the customary tipping percentages when things go well, but she was so disturbed during this visit she only gave the minimum required amount. I will say the food was great, but this probably will not become the IHOP I go to the most."

"5 stars to the Manager who helped with a refund from an online order. The app charged my card and didn’t add my gift card amount. The customer service at this location was excellent from what I witnessed. Clean establishment and food was prepared exactly how it looks on IHOP website. I was shocked to see the place was pretty empty. There are many restaurants nearby, but kids eat free after 4pm I believe. In the past I only ordered omelettes to-go. The items I ordered during this visit didn’t have powdered sugar, but were really sweet nevertheless. So sweet to the point, I should’ve asked for all the toppings to be on the side. I decided to scrape off the toppings and ate only the fruit that comes with the entree. I wish I would’ve selected an omelette, but I wanted to try items I usually wouldn’t get because I had a gift card. With the app online order mishap I have to give the company 4 stars. The manager and second NOT first call representative were very helpful."

"Popped in noon, Sunday, November. Not too busy, immediately seated, menu, coffee. Chose blueberry pancakes, decaf. Served promptly, but found pancakes tough to cut: surface dry, tight; middle crumbled ( griddle too hot on 1st contact??) Not what expecting from long time national chain"

"I sauntered into that IHOP joint on a late Saturday night, and I was hungrier than a comedian searching for a laugh. I ordered the sirloin steak, fries, and rice combo, and, just for kicks, I threw in a side of banana strawberry pancakes - a hearty stack of 6 of those bad boys! Now, I gotta admit, I hadn't eaten all day, so this feast felt like the appetizer to the real meal I should've ordered, but time was not on my side. But let me tell you, the waiter over there, this guy's memory was better than mine when I'm trying to remember my wife's birthday. He didn't jot a thing down, just kept all my crazy requests stored up in his noggin. The steak? It was seasoned to perfection, like it had just been to a stand-up comedy workshop - not too salty, not too bland, just right. The fries were crispy as heck, with the perfect amount of salt, and the rice? It was as moist and soft as a well-crafted punchline. Now, I didn't go for anything fancy to wash it down; just some good ol' H2O. You know, you can't go wrong with water. So, in a nutshell, IHOP, you may not be a five-star Michelin joint, but you sure know how to serve up a solid, satisfying meal. Thanks for filling my belly, and thanks to the waiter with the mental notepad."
