"I placed my Dad (75 years old with severe Dementia) there for respite for 10 days in 2023 and his stay was very far from expected. The rooms they utilize for respite stays are super nice and better accommodations than your would expect and that's where a glowing review ends. When I toured the facility and after bringing Dad there, they promised me that he would have a phone in his room so I could stay in contact with him, that NEVER occurred despite numerous calls and conversations with their management. I left specific instructions regarding medications he was to receive which were not followed, it was difficult getting into contact with his nurses, clothing I sent with him for daily use were not utilized, and when I picked him up, he was sitting in feces and looked unkempt. Also, he fell while he was there and I received a call from a nurse's aid and not the RN he was assigned to. We can't afford to utilize this facility again because I feel we got off lightly, he could have been severely injured by their negligence and lack of care. These are just things I was able to find out about his stay."

"Terrible place, I put my husband in there for 2 weeks and he came out in worse condition then when he started. His lower legs were scarey swollen. They had excuses why things did not work out. After a week and one half he still had the same shirt on. They could have called me and never did. In addition I supplied them with all original bottles of all his medications and they accepted them. I get these medications for free from the VA. I just received a bill for over $1967.00 for the same medications. I specifically advised the woman who took George's pill bottle that I was unwilling to use their medications because we get ours for free and they took all the medications. I had no idea that this place was not going to use our medications. I just spoke to the pharmacy and they admitted that the entire bill I received was an error. They are reviewing the bill and admitted that they received the medications back but failed to credit my bill. I was charged for 30 days and was only there for 13 days. I also specifically asked the admit people not to add anything to the bill without my approval. This place seems to be under staffed. My husband was dirty and not well taken care of and no one ever gave me a call."

Our Dad passed away today after spending six months at Carmel Health and Living. The folks there have become very near and dear to us as they have cared for our Father as if he were their own parent. Our experience there was excellent and we are truly grateful that our dads final months were spent with some amazing, caring and kind hearted people. You all know who you are. We certainly recommend CH&L to anyone seeking care for your loved one."
