"For your own sake, sanity and mental well-being, please avoid this apartment complex in my humble opinion. There is a reason why Alight has one of the worst if not THE worst review in entire West Lafayette. There's a reason why all the good reviews are over 4 years ago and the recent ones are pretty bad. I don't see a single appealing reason for one to stay at Alight, from insincere management to rusty electrical systems (~$400+ electricity bill just for basic neccessities like the heating system), to invasion of personal space while making sure everything is dirty in their way (they never remove their shoes and always make a mess for us to clean up after any maintainance). If you do have money to burn with them randomly charging for one inconviniece to another ranging from ~$60 to ~$800, then please feel free to live here. Me? I got bankrupt due to Alight's "sweet" policies. I made the mistake of staying here, make sure you're smart."

"What a joke of an apartment complex. This place has the potential to be good but its just terrible. I have also had the pleasure of going into multiple apartments to see if the standards are the same across the board so this review is the norm for this place. The only good things I can say about this place is that your rent is really cheap and the only team that seems to do a good job is the landscaping crew. Now off to the bad. When you first get there you're going to see the pool and the common area with the gym and study spaces available. The pool is dirty all the time and generally disgusting as well as being closed off and on for no reason. Half the gym equipment is broken or on its last legs as well as paper towels never being stocked and the mats being old and disgusting. There is also a basketball court which for a long time was not available. I also lived here for long enough to remember when there was a movie theater available for everyone to use which was one of the coolest things of the apartment complex. Then they removed it and added in a study space which has to be the worst decision I have ever heard. The volleyball court is fun just as long as you don't step on some trash others have left in the sand which will never be cleaned. The grilling areas are also disgusting with only one of the grills currently functioning and there never being propane as the residents will leave them open continuously which is a massive hazard. Overall, the common areas have potential but are so old and abused they are disgusting and should be avoided. Your apartment is going to be disgusting and half the appliances will not work correctly. They say they clean the place before you come in and that is a bold faced lie. There is hair and dirt all along the baseboards, there are scratches on the floors and chips in the paint everywhere, and the bathrooms look like they are falling apart. My drier, and many others, did not work for quite a long time and it took an eternity for maintenance to come out and fix it. More on that later. They replaced the counter tops, sinks, and cabinets within the last year or so and there were plenty of issues with those too. First being that within the first month of the new additions, many of the kitchen sinks fell out of the counter tops because the contractors they paid did not properly seal them or use any kind of clamps to keep them up. And when you move out, the staff suddenly turns into Mr. Clean because you bet you're going to pay for them to clean every square inch of that apartment. But of course, they never do, as I have gone back to old ones before and seen the "cleaning" which is just a rag wipe. So you get stuck with a bill for everything. Maintenance is another issue. These guys are nothing but nice when they get to your apartment and will tell you what the problem was when they find it and fix it. But, you will most likely have to put in multiple requests because they will come to look at the problem and never come back, either saying they need parts or will be back soon, and then suddenly reappear when you resubmit the request. It just takes too much time to get things done here. If you like being notified of staff coming to check on your apartment then stay away. You will be informed that staff is coming to check on the apartment for quarterly inspections or for some other issue during a set time period and then they will never show up. Or they will just randomly come to your door and say they need to come in for inspections within notifying you at all. This is also the same with maintenance. No E.T.A's, no heads-up, just show up when they feel like it. Go somewhere else, you can find better places to live."

"Moved my daughter into these apartments yesterday , I initially came with her to look at these apartments and were very impressed. However when we got into her apartment yesterday it was filthy and things were damaged , looks like they slopped paint on the walls and it ended up on the floor too, and stickers on the dresser, seal missing off patio door. Vents, floors and washing machine were filthy . The walls you can tell where the dry wall was taped and it’s coming apart. Molding is missing."

"I was going to give them one but I settled on two. I would advise anyone moving into West Lafayette to avoid this property at all cost. They will make your move in fine, or barely but the issue is the move out. They will make sure they add extra charges even tho you are not responsible for the charges. I was a sublease holder. The lease holder already paid for cleaning but when I moved in, nothing was cleaned at all. So I had to do a deep clean for the room. During my move out date, I spoke to the front office and explained to them about the charges and they guaranteed that there will be no charges on my account. They charged me $80 for the move out which I paid. A few weeks later, they sent an email saying I am getting charged $215 for cleaning service. Called and spoke to the front office and emailed them and they reduced it to $145. The lady explicitly said that the charges were for damages which I didn’t do but was caused by a snow storm that happened, and added that those charges were not negotiable. So I called the lease holder who called the office too and they reduced it to $70 which by then I gave up. Lesson is, do not move in to this property unless you want to be sucked out dry by the unnecessary charges and have no way of removing them or go through a hustle of reducing them not even getting them removed."

"As far as a safe, decent place to live off campus for students, the price is not bad. My student did not have many complaints other than there are some stairwells that are in dire need of repair (unsafe). HOWEVER. The apartment complex goes after students when they move out to pay for routine cleaning. This is against Indiana state law. The four boys who rented this place left it in great shape. No damages were incurred and they cleaned it very well when moving out. It was actually cleaner than when they moved in! They took pictures at move in and move out. Despite that the apartment complex wants over $300 per student (4) to clean it which is the responsibility of the apartment complex who collected an astronomical amount of money over the 12 month rental period. I would warn anyone to make sure you keep a copy of your contract (which does not state you are responsible for routine cleaning) and take lots of photos, and know your tenant rights. (and responsibilities)."
