"Hi, I wanted to love this place, I like the area etc. However, I have not physically moved in yet because I don't have room for my belongings (I refuse to rent a storage to put my essential in because the apartment lack the storage/area that is needed) I agreed to the apartment sight unseen because I was told that they didn't have an available apartment to show me. I was told by management that it was plenty of storage space and their website says that as well. The apartment that was chosen for me does not have any storage space/closets in the apartment other than the bedroom closets therefore, I do not have room in the apartment for my things. I refuse to delve into this deeper here because I am not writing this review with a malicious intent (I thought this review would have been an email going straight to the office staff) I will be going to the office to find some resolve to this situation."

"Man everything about this place is beautiful but my only gripe is that we can't smoke. I feel like if we pay all this money to be here then we should be able to smoke or do what we want to our place. Other than that man I would recommend these apartments to the entire world. Just cut out the non smoking"

"After moved in found out had several problems. Dishwasher, microwave, garage remote didn't work. Couldn't change temperature on AC. Door on linen closet too big won't close. No place to hang long clothes in closet. Light bulb exposed in closet. Shelf not completed in garage. Have rented several apartments in Texas and Alabama and have never experienced any of these problems. Everything has been fine because they checked them before they rented the apartment. The office was supposed to be open at 9AM . The person who was supposed to be there didn't show up till 9:45. When she did show up she was very rude instead of apologizing she said she was throwing up. When someone is responsible for opening a business and unable to it's been my experience that they call someone else.I said there were other people waiting too. She said" Well I guess I'll throw up on them." My husband and I am sick and needed to get to the Dr. plus several other things. When I said our time was valuable she said "Mine is too". She was very rude. I have never had an employee speak to me like this when they're supposed to be dealing with people. I pointed out that she wasn't being very professional she said too bad. When I said I had never rented an apartment like this she said "Fill out a work order and it would be done when they got around to it."When I said the dishwasher doesn't work she said" You have a sink don't you? It's not necessary". I was really appalled at the whole situation but especially her rudeness. While I was waiting another resident was there and talked about how she was mistreated by her Just saw the picture of the model that wss shown us but the actual apartment we were given was much smaller. Felt it is misrepresented."

"My application and move-in process was very professional and accommodating. The staff is very friendly and informative. I’m very impressed by the prompt email responses and friendliness. My apartment is very spacious and beautiful. I feel safe and secure here. The neighbors who I’ve met so far are friendly, quiet and respectful. The valet daily garbage pick-up is my saving grace as I have physical limitations. Overall, I am very happy that I chose Somerset at Trussville."

"My husband and I have paid our rent on time and have not caused problems within the community ever since we moved in 4 months ago. Unfortunately, we've had issues that the staff has chosen not to take seriously. For instance, the window in our living room area is broken, and we reported it upon noticing it when moving in. An order was put in for repair but closed when the pandemic hit. If there wasn't going to be an attempt to fix It, then why close it knowing the job wasn't done? An office staff person told me it was my responsibility to reopen the ticket even though the maintenance worker closed it without repairs. My husband told me the worker most likely did it to save himself from extra work, which I highly believe. This problem intensified when our AC went out for the second time in a two month time frame and we could not use the window to let in air into the living room. We do have a balcony door, but bees have been swarming around the balcony all summer, so I wasn't going to open the door. When I took the time to call the apartment complex number and leave a message on the maintenance "emergency" line, no one ever showed up. The apartment reached up to 86 degrees, and the fans were barely bringing any relief. The next day (Monday), I still had not gotten a callback and I called the office as soon as it was open at 9 am. The thermostat is reading 84 degrees at this point. During the call, I mentioned the broken window and how my husband put in a repair order for it in late February. The staff person said we should have contacted the office again since the ticket had been closed. I mentioned that we shouldn't have needed to do that since we put in a work order before and nothing was repaired. Feeling my body overheat and my head become light as a result, I repeated myself about the initial repair request date and accidentally said November instead of February. The staff person said snarkily that coronavirus pandemic wasn't happening in November. I replied that I was so hot from my apartment being over 80 degrees that my word slip was most likely attributed to the consequent lightheadedness I was experiencing. This staff person was more intent on making me look bad in my time of physical distress than she was in fixing the issues at hand. She muttered something about checking into why the emergency personnel wasn't available when I called the emergency line (which I'm not convinced she did) and that someone would come to fix the AC. Someone did repair the AC, but my experience with this woman was atrocious. Her customer service was seriously lacking, especially since she got to handle the phone complaint while sitting in an air conditioned office. Apparantely, safety of paying tenants at Somerset do not matter. Update: (7/24/2020) A work order was placed before I wrote this review on 7/20/2020, so this "response" appears to be an attempt to save face. Also, I will be convinced that maintenance staff is TOP NOTCH when ALL issues on the work order are fixed and there is a guarantee from the apartment complex that maintenance workers WILL answer emergency maintenance calls going forward, WILL enter my apartment with a mask on (the person sent on 7/20/2020 wasn't wearing one), and WILL NOT leave my door unlocked during a maintenance call when my husband and I are not at home (as was the case 7/22/2020 when I returned home to find the master apartment key dangling in the lock of my apartment's door)."
