"It’s strange how some reviews seem to disappear. My original 1-star review for The Beauty Lounge is no longer here, so I will repost it. I am actually shocked this place is still in business and that it receives many enthusiastic 5-star reviews. I had my worst experience at a salon EVER at the Beauty Lounge and would not recommend it to anyone. I made an appointment to get my hair shampooed and braided - a service Joey stated unequivocally that they offer and had experience with. When I arrived, however, the stylist was very rude and reluctant and informed me directly that she does not braid hair due to hand arthritis. She had another stylist step in, but that stylist had a customer waiting, so she was very inconvenienced and spent maybe 5 minutes on my hair. The shampoo never happened. My presence was a total imposition for everyone - I felt so uncomfortable - but it wasn’t my fault! I’d had an appointment! I should never have been in such an awkward position and the braid looked awful - was it really braided even? When I made the appointment, I had been quoted a price range. Give the poor service, lack of shampoo, and general discomfort if the experience, I was very surprised when they charged me more than the absolute lowest price in that range, as if the time, energy, and attention they put into my appointment was something more than the absolute bare minimum. I paid as Joey tried to sell me some products and I gritted my teeth until finally I was out of that nightmare. In the end, I requested (and was given) a refund, but the awfulness lingers. I have not returned and will not."
