"Ok, this was my first time at the Ramada Inn and it was a 4 day stay. My Husband got 2 rooms because I wanted a room to myself for a little Mommy time *I'm 8 months pregnant *. Well, the staff is friendly but where I ran into my first main issue was when I went into my room to use the bathroom. There were baby roaches crawling on the door frame and a roach crawling out the drain. I was trying to rationalize it as they were localized to the bathroom only. This was also my first time with a room to myself. The next issue wasn't as big.. It was just a bit annoying lol. Like I said, I'm 8 months pregnant and I'm also 5'3. The beds were pretty high "to me" and if had to leap to get in the bed each time. As you can imagine though, that's very difficult to keep doing lol. My next MAJOR complaint was the air conditioning unit. Mine had mold in it. I'm allergic to it and started to feel fluid building in my lungs from it whenever the air was on. It was hot outside so, it was uncomfortable in the room. My husband on the other hand started finding roaches in his room too. His air conditioning unit had just a little mold in it but not as much as mine. With mine you could SMELL the mold. I'm guessing it was because our rooms were next to the pool and the moisture was getting trapped in it? I also had our 2 year old son with us and as he was playing with his toy on day 2, a roach crawled out of his Leap Frog. I also had 2 roaches in my bed while my husband had 1 crawling on his. Let me point out that the staff and cleaning crew are awesome and I definitely don't fault them. There is only so much cleaning you can do but you need a exterminator to get rid of the roaches. ****side note**** My husband kept finding crane flies and found 2 mosquitoes in his bathroom at random."
"What more can I say except you get what you pay for. The rooms were okay except the bathroom was really tight. You can tell that they did patchwork trying to remodel because there were floor boards that looked like they were glued down with Elmer's glue. I have to admit that most of the staff were friendly however the service when it came to room cleaning was very lacking. After the first night we asked for maid service and they didn't come by until after 4 when we returned to the room so we decided not to get it cleaned after that. The next day we requested room service and when we returned to the 9 that night it wasn't cleaned. There was hair tangled and matted in the sheets, hair on the walls in the shower, I was just glad I took my black light to check for stains and bugs."
"My family and I were in town for an Alabama football game and with the prices of hotel rooms on game days, you kind of have to pick your poison. For what I paid for a 1 night stay, I was hoping to get a little more positives out of my experience. Pros: -The receptionist during check-in was very friendly! She called to asked when we thought we would be arriving and said that she would have a room ready for our arrival. My room was ready when I arrived. The check-out receptionist was also very courteous. -I feel like this hotel has potential. I can tell they are trying to compete with other area hotels by trying to keep the outside looking appealing. The modernization of the rooms shows potential. -Decent breakfast. Cons: -There is a $250 smoking/pet fee and it smelled like other guests do not care about money. I didn't want to take my clothes out of my suitcase out of fear of smelling like a cigarette. -If I wanted to wash the smell of smoke off of me, I couldn't because the bathroom reeked of mildew. (I used bottled water to brush my teeth) -The entire room felt wet. Beds, tables, chairs. I'm sure the floor felt the same, but I kept my shoes on the whole time. -I assume the cleaning staff work day and night because at 1 am I woke up to what I thought was gunshots outside, but it was the cleaner pushing their cart aggressively down the sidewalk. The Ramada had pretty good reviews and a decent star rating when I booked the reservation. It is a good location when it comes to finding good food and visiting Bryant-Denny Stadium. I really hope that they can improve and fix some of these issues."
"The room was very clean and well kept, the bed was comfortable too. The bathroom was well stocked with clean towels and necessities. Breakfast has a standard selection of items, including eggs, meat, and pancakes. The lobby is clean and smells really good. The gentlemen at the front desk are very polite and patient. It was a great stay. The only thing I was worried about was the latch on the door to my room. It seemed a little old and ready to fall off the door"
"The moment I walked into the lobby the hotel smelled SO good and was decorated with the theme of the town and college! I loved the houndstooth chairs in the lobby. The staff was always so friendly, professional and accommodating. The room was clean, decorated in red and white (again in theme of the Univ of Alabama) which I loved. The beds were comfortable that even my elderly parents enjoyed and talked about how comfortable they were and slept so well. Although, we would rather have a hotel that is completely accessible from the main door (or by key side doors) only for safety purposes. The lobby has a back door which is for the outside guests and to access the pool. Our room which was an inside room facing the pool and on the end closest to the lobby's back door was just a few steps away. And with our room facing the pool instead of the parking lot gave additional feelings of security. We realize we walked less steps with where we were verses if we would had been inside. And with elderly parents, this is important too. The breakfast had a good variety of items to choose from hot and cold items, fruits, juices and coffee. And we appreciated the coffee and hot chocolate at any time in the lobby. We were in town for a family funeral and thankful for such a wonderful experience. Thank you for everything Ramada by Wyndham Tuscaloosa we highly recommend your hotel and will definitely stay again when we come to town!! Only suggestion is if the hotel could have luggage racks in the room for an area to open the luggage with as there was not a space or shelf like area to do this on in the outside room without using the floor or trying to lift the luggage to the bed and with elderly this is more difficult to do. I have thought the hotel may have them and our room may have been missing ours but this was the only thing that would have helped us in our stay."
