"A large group of us for a 50 year class reunion just played at Southern Gayles. Front desk stand were “hand picked”. They looked like they certainly enjoyed working there.Staff outside were just as nice. The golf course was in excellent shape and we agreed to how much fun we had playing there. Mostly larger open fairways and played well with our higher handicaps. I am looking forward to playing there again soon. Great job to the owner , staff, and golf course workers!!"

"Don’t do it. Treated rudely by staff. First Marshall was nice. Some guy with clubs and a Southern Gayles hat told us we wouldn’t be able to play 18 due to carts needing to be in at a certain time, even though we had a tee time 54 minutes before the last available for the day. Played 18 in 3 hours and 45 minutes as a foursome with slow play in front and was still told that we wouldn’t be able to finish. You probably shouldn’t take the money for 18 if you only want people to play 9 at twilight. Greens not in good shape. Construction in the middle of the front 9. Get a RTJ trail card and play there is my suggestion to anyone in this area. Basically the same price with staff that actually treat you appropriately. Colonial is not for from here. Much more comfortable vibe there as well."

"Very nice golf course. Very crowded on a friday midday. Lots of trees and shade though. Some water and nice features. Greens are above avg. for beginning of August. It is now my second favorite course, behind Cherokee Ridge, in the greater Huntsville, northern AL region. The cost was spot on for this level of golf course. There is a dress code. So wear a short sleeve collard shirt."

"It’s a Pasture Paradise! Not a difficult course at all. Fairway and tee boxes are just field grass cut short which was kind of disappointing. Greens are better than you would think though after seeing the fairways. Mostly straight fairways weaving throughout multiple neighborhoods. If the fairways can transition into treated turf, this is an easy 4 star rating."
