"Beware of the double payment scam. We made a reservation about one month prior to our arrival. I tried to make the reservation online, but I was not able to because the system was not working. I called in and spoke to the lady in the office who took my information and card number and told me we were all set. Four days later I got a notification that my card was charged for the amount of the reservation. When we arrived the day of our reservation, she did not have any record of us making said reservation. She also said that she NEVER charges you for your stay before you arrive. Instead she only charges you if you no show or when you arrive for your stay. So we had had to make a new reservation for the same night, luckily they had space. And we paid again (believing she was telling the truth). When I checked my bank statements walking out the door, I saw that she clearly had charged me when I made the initial reservation. When I found this out I walked back in and told her she had already charged me. This is when she explained that she NEVER charges for reservations until you arrive. I had to argue with her for 10 minutes showing her the statement, telling her when I called in and her repeatedly saying I didn’t pay her and that she doesn’t charge until you arrive. She also said she remembered speaking to my wife which is not true since I’m the one who called and made our reservation. To her credit, she eventually resolved the situation 3 hours later. However, if I was not so persistent and had not remembered the charge; she would have gotten away with charging us twice for the same reservation. This is all the while she says that she NEVER charges for reservations until you arrive. So why was I charged? On top of the billing issues, we tried to enjoy our stay at the RV park. However, when my wife tried to take our dogs on the trash ridden “nature trail” our dogs came back covered in ticks and she was disappointed in the state of the trail. To add insult to injury, when we came back from breakfast the next morning, we were driving 6 or 7 mph through the nearly empty Rv park when a guy with a leaf blower was motioning for us to slow down. When we didn’t slow down because we were going a reasonable speed he then proceeded to yell at us repeatedly to slow down. Considering that we weren’t speeding, this was very annoying. If he’s using his eyes as a radar gun he might want to get them recalibrated… I will never come back here again and would recommend that you avoid this park."

"We travel all over the country for work, and this park is definitely one of the best. It’s quiet (other than a little road noise), clean (the laundry room is cleaner than our own at home!), peaceful (great for nature lovers), and the owners and caretakers clearly take pride in the property (they are constantly outside keeping it clean and well maintained). Unlike other parks, there are no loose animals, there is plenty of space between spots, we felt safe walking throughout the property, and there are no old property eye-sores that exist at many other RV parks. We will definitely be back, and we are so thankful for the kind folks who work here. *Also, it rained several days while we were there, but our spot never flooded. The sites are well-graveled and level."

"Spaulding Lake Campground Niles, Michigan: This campground gives the appearance of being a bit older and well established as you enter.   That doesn't mean that it's not well kept, because it is and the host we met was very pleasant. We had a pull through site and our site, like others here, was gravel and reasonably level.   Being almost 70' long It was just a little bit short for us to comfortably park our truck with our rig so we parked in a parking section directly across from us. During our stay it was pleasantly quiet and our 50 amp full hook up utilities were consistent throughout our stay.   Each site that we noticed had a fire ring and a picnic table alongside them.  There is also free WiFi here as well but like most campgrounds, it isn't the strongest or most consistent. They list having four lakes but they are really just large ponds, good enough for kids to drop a fishing line in but we sure weren't going to put our kayaks in just to go in a 100 foot circle.  We also walked the hiking trails that they say they have. Unless we missed something, most of them were only clear for a hundred feet or so and then you could not go any further. This campground has one of the largest playgrounds for kids I have ever seen and multiple places to walk your dog on a leash. There is no fenced dog area for playtime though and no pool.  There is a rec hall, but it looks as through it's full of stuff and hasn't been used for awhile.  The bath houses were clean and well maintained and the office has a very small  store for camping items. All In all, we wouldn't mind staying here again when passing through."
