"We did the stairs + hike + oval beach on a beautiful October day. The temp was upper 50s with sun peaking in and out and it was perfect weather for all the work! Up the stairs to start is very rough! We immediately regretted not bringing some water to drink. Down the dune to get to the beach is not as bad (except when you start thinking about having to walk up it on the way back!) We had such a great time once we got to the beach. It was gorgeous. The water was clear. We looked for fun rocks and sea glass. The hike back up the dune is a challenge for sure! Going down the stairs at the end wasn't too tough. The whole family enjoyed our day, two adults and two kids, ages 8 & 12. I wore boots to give some foot and ankle stability but the rest of the family did the sand parts barefoot."
"Parking is available right in front of the 302 stairs , there are seating options nearly , the Kalamazoo River views are awesome with people chilling out in the boats , fishing by the boardwalk, having a good time. Resting place is available at intervals for the stairs. Need to catch breadth after climbing the stairs as it was a summer afternoon and muggy weather, otherwise it’s fine"
