"We had heated floor tile and a steam shower put in our Master Bathroom and the room turned out perfectly! Jacobus Boot was the tile expert - a true artist with tile. His precise cuts, attention to the layout detail, and craftsmanship have taken this space from a mere shower to a luxurious haven. It is exactly what I imagined a master bath should be. Thank you!"
"We started our bathroom renovation in May, and Duca's tile work was to be completed by July. It's finally December, and we now have an acceptable end product that we could only achieve through a tiler other than Duca. When they first finished the shower, the pan did not drain water as evidenced in our first picture. This is a violation of code. We also noticed that our subway tile, which was supposed to have a 50% offset, was more like 2/3 - 3/4 offset in certain places (see pictures). These are tiling basics. Attempts to contact Duca by text, email, and phone by both my contractor and myself were often unsuccessful. My only routinely successful strategy was to pop into their showroom at which time they'd too often give the excuse of how busy they are with other projects. While a troubleshooting a botched install doesn't pay their bills, making this right should be the company's priority. To fix the shower floor, they repeatedly offered the cheapest, simplest, and least aesthetically-pleasing fix of laying an entirely new layer of tile over the botched tile. On my insistence, they agreed to dig out a portion of the existing tile and re-slope the shower pan so that it would drain. To their credit, Jacob (the owner) did this project himself. As evidence of their top-down dysfunction, Tony lost the record of what color grout was used, and Jacob used the wrong color grout in the repair (as shown in the last picture). I gave it a couple of months to patina, but it was way off. When I showed them the poorly offset subway tile, they sent out the same man who botched the original job, only this time he was supposedly supervised by Tony. He replaced only a small portion of the misaligned tile leaving the more challenging repair completely unchanged. Again, their theme of doing the absolute minimum, simplest repair emerges. By this time, with delays in communication by Duca and challenges with scheduling, it was December, and I told my contractor and Duca that I did not want any of their workers back in my house. I asked my contractor to find a new tiler to repair Jacob, Tony, and their crew's botched jobs. No response from Duca. It took our new tiler 4 days of careful work to finally make it right, work Duca seemed unwilling or incapable of doing themselves. Jacob makes it a habit to respond to negative reviews, trying to defend his position. There's nothing defensible here. Mistakes happen. It's how you deal with your mistakes that counts. Duca has demonstrated a top-down culture of doing the minimum, doing work incompletely, keeping poor records, and using the wrong materials."
"This is the place you need to go if you are in the market for countertops. They did a great job! Very clean and laid drop cloths throughout the workspace. Showed up when they said they would. Cleaned up very well!!"
"What happen to customer service? My husband and I Remodel houses as a job. I have always used a different company for quartz countertops, but after seeing good reviews for this company thought I would check them out for the first time. My experience started out well with my sales rep named Mary- such a sweet person! After installing my countertops I talked to my sales rep about some concerns about the countertop not touching my sink. I was only looking for some ideas to making it not as noticeable to see my base cabinet. Suzanne emailed me a serviced call date and I couldn’t make that date so I never confirmed. Next thing I know their company sent installers on that date- who let themselves in with a hidden key and no one there. They took the countertops off to make adjustments-I assume. I receive another email from Suzanne with another service date for reinstalling the countertops. I emailed her back confirming my appointment for the next day but also informing her that I wanted to talk to the installers to get a better idea of what was going to happen before anything was done. My next appointment was at 1:30 and to my surprise the installers were already inside my house before that. No call ahead to inform me that they could come early or anything. I asked them how they got inside and he said that they came from the basement cellar door. How is this okay?? My experience didn’t end there. The countertops that they reinstalled were worst then before. Not only do I have gaps still on the sides of my sink but now I have gaps where it butts up against the walls. So big that the wall tile can fit between the walls and countertops. The overhangs are different too (some are 3/8” and some are 1”) and will be noticeable when my stove is in, as well as, the width opening for my stove is different from the back and front. When I called Suzanne about it being worse it was simply said that it was my fault because the countertops should have went under my sink. The sink is a free standing one and that is the design that we wanted. She never once Acknowledged the mistakes that were made but kept telling me how I should have made the countertops go underneath. She did mention that they could come back and take one section off to try to fix it but it would leave gaps by the wall so why would I want that? Will not using this company for my other jobs."
"When I first stopped by DUCA I showed up without an appointment, simply because my kids' naps make appointment-making a pain. Nevertheless, someone was available to help show me around the granite yard. From then on I did all of my correspondence with them via email. I can't express how much I love a company whose employees are not only willing to work with me over email, but also respond promptly and answer every question I have the first time. I got 5% off for paying up-front, which was nice. Everyone who came into my home was respectful and professional. They got the job done in 3 hours and it looks amazing. The seam where the two large pieces meet is virtually invisible. I paid $4,215 for 40 sq ft of countertop and that included demolition and disposal of the old countertop, fabrication, installation, and sealing of the new countertop, and a 4" backsplash. Very happy!"
