Reviews
"Friendly staff when I called to make the appointment, but it doesn't say anything on their website about the deposit being non-refundable, so that's a bit misleading, and I don't recall it being stated during the phone call. I cancelled my cat's appointment because I found a less expensive (exact same services for half the cost) vet that could see her sooner. Still gave three stars because the phone calls were nice."
"I typically take my pets to Dr. Smitley at Millwood, but my cat, Chuck, had a medical issue and wasn't able to be seen by Dr. Smitley soon enough. I made an appointment at Kalamazoo Cat Hospital and was extremely satisfied by the service. The veterinarian we saw was amazing, I instantly liked her just as much as I adore Dr. Smitley! She was incredible with Chuck, who was very unhappy to be at the vet. The exam and urinalysis were done very quickly, and we were sent home with medication to help with Chuck's recovery. The total cost of the visit was much less than I expected, which I also greatly appreciate! The staff at the front desk were fantastic as well! I think this will be Chuck's new permanent vet! But, I still love Dr. Smitley, so my other 2 pets will likely continue to see her. THANK YOU for taking care of my Chucky Boy!"
"Tried to make an appointment because our new kitten got a bleeding wound and was turned away because of a misunderstanding that happened ONE time between the vet and my husband. They refuse to treat our cat because we wanted a refund on a treatment that they didn't ask about before administering and we apparently weren't direct about it, when we did make it very clear that we weren't pleased with the surprise charge and were asking for a refund. To turn away an injured animal over something as petty as a misunderstanding that could've been resolved is unacceptable, it seems they care more about money than the health of your animals if this is what happens after ONE human to human miscommunication. We were never rude or causing a scene, we voiced our concerns with having been mislead/not properly informed about what was happening and made it clear we wanted a refund on the medication that was given as we weren't asked if it was ok or financially prepared for it and now our injured kitten is paying the price for their greed. All in all very disappointed that it boils down to this and not about genuine care for injured animals. Make sure they don't slip surprise medications without properly asking and explaining the cost first because if you call to get it sorted out or refunded they'll turn you away when it's time for your next visit."
"Update: I didn't realize I had accidentally rated three stars, when it should have been five. So, changing my rating to reflect my experience. Brought my cat here for the first time after having a bad experience at her former vet. I'm really happy with this place. Staff were very friendly. They handled my cat with gentleness and compassion. It was nice and quiet, no barking dogs. Of course no cat likes going to the vet, but my cat was far less stressed than I have ever seen her at a vet before. That means everything. They do take a deposit for appointments with first time clients, which I know puts some people off. But honestly, I can't blame them, with the number of people who think it's Ok to no-show for scheduled appointments at any practice, human or veterinarian. As long as you show up for your appointment, or call ahead to cancel, (which you should do anyway, imho) that deposit goes toward the cost of that first visit. So you're really not out anything. This place is a little more expensive than her former vet, but it appears I'm getting what I pay for, so to speak. I'm happy to pay the slightly higher prices for my cat to get treated with the compassion and expertise she deserves."
"Great people who knew what they were doing. Diagnosed the issue quickly and provided treatment options quickly. Could tell they really care and are very knowledgeable while sharing their expertise. Also handled our pets as if their own causing practically zero stress for our pet. The only vets for our cats."
