About the Business

Oak Park Market & Restaurant

Welcome to Oak Park Market & Restaurant, located at 13745 West Nine Mile Road in Oak Park, Michigan. Our institution offers a unique blend of bakery, food, grocery, supermarket, and restaurant all in one convenient location.

Founded in 1998 by Chef Ameer Orow, who previously worked at the prestigious Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan, where he cooked for notable figures such as Bill Clinton, Mike Tyson, and Michael Jordan. In August of 2001, he opened his own restaurant in Oak Park, serving the highest quality Middle Eastern and Chaldean cuisine in Michigan.

Using old-world family recipes, Ameer passed on his culinary legacy to his son Mark Orow, who now owns New Sands Restaurant with Ameer as the head chef. Today, Oak Park Market & Restaurant continues the tradition of serving fine Middle Eastern, Chaldean, and American dishes in a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. Our menu features a variety of dishes including kabobs, shawarmas, kaftas, BBQ, falafel, fish, seafood, and lamb. Come visit us and experience the flavors of the Middle East right here in Michigan.

"A gem of oak park. Everything from the restaurant part is delicious.. the pickled veggies are amazing and the portions are big! As for the shop, there's a good variety of spices, herbs, grains, candies and a whole isle dedicated to pickled foods plus the basics. The bread is good and I'm not sure why that one review said there's bugs...I buy it every week . Great place"

I had vegetable pies (like roasted vegetable pita pizza but with radically different toppings - 11/10 stars easily) and tahini and onion pies(11 out of 10 stars!! today was my first time for these) and date syrup turshe cabbage(OMG DElicious ) ( i misheard the cook describe it as DEATH SYRUP and LMAO..but its Date syrup ..) the nice staff are terrific and the aroma is heady !"

"Sorry that I could not give a higher rating. Friendly people. My Taboulee salad was small and the salmon was dry. Other food looked better but I didn't order those things. I may return and try again."
