"I experienced the WORST SITUATION for the first time in my life. I scheduled a viewing today and didn’t get to view the apartment at all because I was stereotyped. Let’s start here… I walked in and was met by the front desk lady JERRICA the first thing she asked me was about my income and where I worked. Mind you I didn’t do the application or view the apartment at all. She calculated the amount I will need to make to meet there criteria and showed me her calculator and asked if I can make that after I told her my income. Strike one. Then she pulls out a application criteria sheet and pointed out that I couldn’t have a dent in my car and my visitors can’t have dents not knowing if I had a car or not. I went outside and drive around the complex and seen multiple cars that had dents and scratches STRIKE TWO. Then I was told that the 2 bedroom balcony was 1240 in my email once I got there she said it was 1440. The website is a totally different price too. I just left because not only did she stereotype me but we never made it to the viewing or application. I wouldn’t recommend moving here if your African American it’s like she didn’t want me to live there due to me being AA. I make more than what she makes x 10. She can’t possibly be making what I make with that type of behavior I experienced today. I hope the property manager take action. Have a wonderful day. 2/16/24 4:16pm (when this occurred)"

"I lived at deer hill for 1 year between 2021 and 2022. At first I really enjoyed it but small issues kept piling up that overall made it not a great experience. My apartment was at the very back of the complex (or compound if you will.. the place is huge) and I found it annoying that I had to drive my trash or walk it half a mile to the one and only dumpster. My unit was a basement unit and while I rarely noticed any bugs inside, I had a snake nest in a broken brick in my balcony and an infestation of daddy long legs all over my windows and door. The walls were also very thin, I could hear my neighbors 2 floors above me and many mornings the ground maintenance crew would start leaf blowing outside my window at the crack of dawn. The laundry is around 4 dollars a load which is absolutely insane. I was constantly behind on laundry because I had to reload my card almost weekly. The biggest thing: I noticed each apartment was given brand new carpet before a new tenant.. which is awesome. When I left after a year, I was literally sued for a stain underneath of the carpet. not on top. underneath. I had to pay for the new carpet (which is installed anyway). They said it was pet damage but I just had one cat at the time who most certainly didn’t leave a stain underneath the carpet. Overall it’s a good transition spot, but for the price and the shady policies not worth it"

"My over all experience with the service I received was excellent. The response time was quick and Aaron was very friendly and took care of my problem in one visit. Aaron is definitely an asset to Deer Hill Apartments. Thank you again for all of your help. Tom"

"It's a quiet, well maintained apartment complex. Maintenance guy Aaron is super nice. Lived here for a few years and rent increased a lot. They painted the inside of my building and it was super sloppy, paint all over the brick. My biggest advise is if you do not want a $200+ duke bill in the middle of summer or winter- do not move here. You will be paying a ridiculous amount and your apartment doesn't maintain the temperature and you'll still be uncomfortable. The A/C units are old ( they claim there is central AC on the website, but when you complain they say it is comfort AC). AC will run constantly in the summer and your apartment will still be 75-80 degrees. My BF and I just moved into a 1800 sq foot house and our duke bill is LOWER than my 600 sq ft apartment here. If they are going to keep increasing the prices, they should at least offer free laundry services. It is very expensive- 3.75 for a load, there is always money left over on your card that is wasted because you can only add money in $5 increments instead of adding $1 bills. Pool is only open til 9pm- but they spent money on lights over the pool that no one can enjoy for a night swim because it's not usually dark before 9pm in the summer. It's one of the more modest apartments in the area, but not going to be worth it anymore if they keep increasing the rent. This apartment is not worth over 1k a month- 900 max, especially with the high utility costs. You will also have a "water bill" included with your rent- but it is not YOUR water, you are splitting the water with the entire apartment complex which doesn't seem right. If they want to keep increasing rent they should also eliminate the water bill to residents. EDIT: Deer hill responded to my review stating they do not have other units with outrageous utility bills. BULL! LOL. I can't tell you how many times I called to say my utility bill was high and they told me "sorry the units are old". I know of other people who have lived here and also had neighbors who had high utility bills due to the heating and cooling. Very rarely did I have a bill less than $100, and that was when I barley had the heating/cooling running. I didn't use excessive electric, the typical daily cooking and watching tv..."

"I lived at Deer Hill for nearly four years and couldn’t have had a better experience. The staff keeps the grounds maintained and cleaned and are very attentive to the needs of their tenants. I never had to wait an excessive amount of time for maintenance to address the few requests I submitted. Aaron, a maintenance worker, was always kind and courteous. I lived at Deer Hill while attending college and my neighbors were a great mixture of older and younger people. I highly recommend living here! It is suitable as a both a starter apartment or a place you can call home for many years."
