Deer Ridge Apartments

"I lived at Deer Ridge for 4 years. The last 2 years, they raised my rent by $100/month each year. Beginning rent for a 2 bedroom was under $1000, ending rent was $1250. Service went down the drain. I kept it clean but the drain smelled and they couldn't figure out how to fix it. Not to mention that in the spring of 2023, they called around freaking residents out by telling them they had to either move out for 30 days so the units could be renovated, OR just move out early. It took me a week to actually reach a real person, and after some pushing they admitted this was strictly voluntary. All my elderly neighbors were freaking out. Oh, and some friends of mine with little kids, expecting another right at the end of their lease, were looking for a house to buy, and they wouldn't give them even a one-month extension. Thankfully they found a house, a mere 2 weeks before the wife had the baby, but come on. Basic humanity? The husband was moving boxes out while his wife was in labor. Then, when I got engaged and reached out to them about possibly having a unit they could renovate, it took a month and still no response, so my 60 day notice was given a month later than it could have been. They also towed my husband's trailer (parked well out of everyone's way) while were were on our honeymoon because "trailers aren't allowed on the property" - sorry, I didn't have time to read the fine print in the rush of getting married and packing to move to another state, and they didn't call, email, text - nothing. My neighbor slipped a note under my door and that's the notice we got. It apparently never occurred to them to check with the residents who were moving? And then they charged me $28 off my security deposit for "dirty drip pans," when they were replacing all the appliances and cabinets in the kitchen anyway. Very greedy, terrible customer service. Things really went downhill in the last 2 years. The units are beautiful and it's a safe neighborhood, but they're REALLY cashing in on the "luxury" schtick."

"Leaking roofs, outlets don’t work half the time, locks break on entrance way to apartment. Smells like cigarettes and marijuana in the hallway constantly and I have a child. They will increase your rent over 20 percent and blame corporate. To no surprise there’s a new manager for the place every time you go to their office. I have enjoyed living here because maintenance has been solid and the price was decent however the price increases are completely unjustifiable."

"Worst place I've ever lived. Horribly managed. Bait and switch techniques with leasing contracts. Management is dishonest and will not respond to messages unless you're persistent. Ridiculous policies such as no car/motorcycle covers and 2 month moving notice. Way overpriced when I moved in and since then they've price gouged their tenants so people can't afford to move out. Even if you pay month to month for years they'll change your contract without honoring your month to month payments. All the children that live here play in the road because Deer Ridge won't build sidewalks or a playground/park; their solution is more speedbumps. Don't live here. You can do better. UPDATE: I moved out in June of 2023 after Deer Ridge updated their contract to say I could no longer go month to month (an option I paid for in the past that they removed from my previous leasing contract without my consent). After waiting on my security deposit refund for over a month I contacted Deer Ridge in August to see when I should expect my refund. I was told that this takes 30-45 days, and that I should reach out again if I hadn't received the refund in that time. After 50 days I reached out again multiple times, and haven't received any response. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Metro Communities (owner of Deer Ridge Apartment Complex) to retrieve the money they owe me, and Deer Ridge management has not responded to the complaint that BBB sent them to resolve the issue. I will be filing a claim in small claims court against this company to get my refundable security deposit back. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS."
